Here you go (not as identical as I first thought, but you'll get the picture)-

1st run ever in my EVO-

60- 2.090
330- 5.814
1/8- 8.954
MPH- 79.28
1000- 11.662
1/4- 13.918
MPH- 100.33

2nd run ever in my EVO-

60- 2.013
330- 5.695
1/8- 8.767
MPH- 82.46
1000- 11.442
1/4- 13.657
MPH- 102.37

As you can see my launch improved slightly, but my shifting really improved, and I knew I could even do better, because I didn't do so great in the back half.

So my point is 11SECEVO stop panicking and calling out other EVO owners, your car is just fine. Your suffering from a case of not being a great EVO driver out the box. Welcome to the club, keep practing your shifting and your launching and you will be there.

11SECEVO- Nothing a little practice won't cure. As for the 60's your talking about. Mine went 1.6's on a stock clutch in 80 degree weather and 85% humidity, so it can be done.

How smoothly you shift can also make a difference, for me I always shift just a little bit past redline, so like 7100RPM, I've tried shifting just under and at redline, and my traps went down.

Last night, I took my IX to the track as well. My only power mod is a test pipe and I am un-tuned. About 3000 miles on the odo. Never launched an AWD car before. I still need a lot of work.

Track conditions...August in Alabama = 85 degrees at night.

60'................2.000
594'..............8.233
1/8...............8.782
1/8MPH........81.93

I was satisfied with my numbers even though I know I need work on the line. I know the car has it, I've just gotta get it too.

p.s. The stock clutch sucks. This is news, I know.

disconnect your rev limiter. If I were driving your car I would launch somewhere around 6-6.5. A good launch is below a 1.7x or faster. Good luck

That's too high. I used to launch without the rev limiter around 5500 and could pull low 1.7's

Launching just takes practice.

Now 60' Besides I had FOUR runs in with a CONSISTENT 99something MPH, and it's a BRAND NEW CAR..so that tells me that MITSB must have CHANGED the ECU Programing to LOWER Stock Boost/HP I guess do to Warrranty Issues??

ANYBODY got any OTHER Brilliant Ideas why the Car isn't running the 102 MPH that it Should???? I Used 94 Octane Gas..Sea Level Track...Checked and TIGHTEND all the Boost Hoses....

Do they get Faster After 1000or so miles like a LOT of other brand??

And Perhaps,as someone here DID point out, my 2-3 Shift was only at 6900 or so, I i was said I should try 7100..should that help??

Ummm, no. It actually runs more boost than an Evo 8.

Aiight man look... you're running slow 60's and low E.T/traps because you NEED MORE PRACTICE. It has nothing to do with the weather or any other excuses you may come up with. My bone stock IX ran a "slow" time of 13.3 and a "low" trap of 104. I was cutting consistently slow 1.8 60's... the weather was in the 90's that day with damn near 100% humidity. Why did my times suck? Because I SUCKED. It was my first time racing the Evo (like you) and I only launched on the street, so I didn't know how "good" of a launch I was really doing. I didn't know my shift points either. I don't blame it on the weather one bit... I blame it on my lack of experience with my Evo. Stop whining, take your *** back to the track and practice more... if you don't completely suck at life you'll improve.

*EDIT* Forgot to mention... I was launching at the 5000 stock limit, didn't roast my clutch once that day.

Yes, your shift point was prolly hurting you.

You can't refer to VIIIs as one unit, because 05s were not the same as 03-04s. 05s and 06s run the same stock boost (20.3 -> 17), but I agree with you that it's absurd when he said something about Mitsu changing the ECU programming due to warranty issues - this guy is nuts.

A shift point of 6900 vs 7100 would not hurt him - it's insignificant.
