MR's are slow.. what u think

Ok who seriously thinks MRs are slow.. my friend and I both own IX's.. Here is a list of our mods as we both have:

TBE w/TESTPIPE--02 Housing--Intake--UICP--LICP--BOV--FMIC--Fuel Pump

I also have a manifold on mine..

The only difference i can think of are he is running AMS IC and am running RNR's RACE FMIC.. also he has AMS LICP in comparison to my HPF LICP.. He is Venting.. am Recirc.. were noth running the Greddy spec B II boost controller both set at 22psi on 92 pump.. Now were both tuned by the same tuner also.. and to throw this in there.. I also have the DC SPORT EXHAUST MANIFOLD.. his a stocker.. also our tunes are very similar.. both custom to our mods and pretty much were safely lean.. meaning just about 2 counts off knock..

with all that said his skeptical about lining them up.. with me.. since he has beaten several MRs.. he goes by what people say.. about the tranny the weight and since he has come out on top.. he says there slow..

I drove his car b4.. its okay for a street tune i guess.. he put down 358AWHP on a dynojet..!! I haven't dynoed.. but when I get on mine somehow i feel mine feels faster.. could it be that the manifold is making me feel that edge or is it just on my head.. I want to know from all you mainland folks.. tell me about his numbers.. you guys think there okay for that list of mods.. what about MR's.. are they really slow.. why would mitsu then badge them as MRs.. its suppose to be top off the line.. so is the 6spd there jst for show.. it doesn't make a difference.. its just going to break and be pathetic..

Is like saying a honda ex is faster than a SI or even a type-R out the factory.. it doesn't make sense.. we both got the same engine.. am abit diff.. but he makes it seem like all MRs in general are slow.. my manifold is the only diff.. tuned by same tuner.. i got his tune on my com.. and compared it to mine.. there slightly identical.. mine a bit more agressive.. gues cuz of the manifold.. he even says.. why is there no MR in the 8's or 9's.. I think in my opinion to built a drag car.. its cheaper jst to get the RS.. instead of spending the extra money.. anyways the floor is open..

well seeing as MR's are not built for "drag racing" I would say this was a very pointless thread.

Tell your buddy my MR is faster then his car

BTW, the RS/GSR's make better drag cars because they have one less gear to worry about shifting in to. Your Evo prolly feels faster because he's putting down less torque than the rest of us did... so your torque is prolly up there between mine and Mark's. Another thing too, his tune is VERY close to the edge of destruction... and if you say your's is more aggressive, you might need a retune. Remember, the closer we are to the "edge", the more power we make.

As far as the whole Civic analogy, that just makes no sense at all man. Each Evo (RS, GSR, MR) were made for different purposes. Drag racing isn't ANY of their purposes... the car's original focus was rally racing, not drag. The RS makes the best race car for the simple fact it was specificaly made for that purpose... not exactly the most comfy daily driver (no AC, PW, PL, alarm, radio etc) but saves mucho weight. The MR makes the best daily, while the GSR is a good combo of DD/racer. IMO, anyways.

I love how everyone leaves out the fact that the MR handles better because of the Bilsteins. Everyone ONLY chooses to mention that it is a smoother ride.

MR's handle better because they have Bilsteins.

I didn't "chose" to leave it out, I just can't comment on it because I've never taken an MR to the limits of it's handling.

I wasn't trying to be rude or anything to you. Is it just me or have you also noticed that a lot of people hate MR's on this forum?

i hate the mr i see it as a waiste of my money since the only extra things you are paying for is a weaker tranny, wheels and shocks that would be replaced anyways

Nobody "hates" MR's. A lot of people hate the fact that the tranny is weaker on the "Mitsubishi Racing" version of the Evo. I guess people don't comment on the handling aspects of the MR because the ride doesn't feel as stiff, and most people associate stiff rides with better handling. But the handling of the MR really never came into play here, that's why I came back like I did. This was more about the straight-line performance, more specificaly 1/4 mile performance. And plus I know the OP personnaly and don't know why the hell he's complaining about this.

....So this topic starts like this: MR's are slow.. what you think?

I think that a moderator should close this silly irrelevant topic as soon as possible. This is going to lead to another 5 speed is better but MR handles better type of topic.
