fastest stock longblock evo?
fastest stock longblock evo?
Just wondering what people are running with the big turbo's and stock bottom end and head. Ive seen some high mph's but the et is usaually close to what a good stock turbo setup is putting down. And then you see the really fast street cars pulling off low 10's to high 9's, but they usually have a fully built bottom end, head, sheet metal intake, tb and so on.
Im looking to get a new IX and was hoping that with a 50 trim or 35r and the basic bolt ons I could be running consistant 10's at 130 or so. Am I way off here?

Much easier to make that cobra run 10's@130 than the EVO, but I'm sure you already know that... I wish I could have kept both. Since it is obvious that you have searched a little I think you know the answer to the question. How many stockblock consistant 10 second EVO's do you see? That will tell you how feasible that plan of attack is. I don't know of any that run consistant 10's. Why buy all of the supporting mods and not spend 3K for a built bottom end? The stock head is fine, but building the bottom should be in the plan when you start to push that kind of power...at least in the near future the stocker won't last forever pushing 500-550whp.
Before anyone starts jumping on the coat tails of 1 or 2 people. I know Sean Ivey has been pushing over 550whp for over a year, that's great he's Sean Ivey. Most people that start out on the 500-550whp on the stockblock endeavor end up building the bottom end pretty quickly anyway by choice if not by failure. Why take the chance of destroying a head and turbo when the stock grenades.
Good luck.

thanks for the reply. Yeah the cobra was easy, just a blower swap and basic bolt ons it was pulling 10.7's at 132 on dr's.
I was just wonder who is runing fast on a stockish setup and what turbo kit there were running. Im not totally against a built bottom end. I was just looking for some real world numbers. I havent been on here in a while so I havent seen whats been going on.

The silver NOPI/Yahoo car that Martin and I helped build at the 2005 SEMA show ran 10.9 somewhere in GA. This was on a 100% stock longblock, stock headbolts/cams and all. The car was probably 100+ lbs heavier than stock with the body kit, roll bar, 18" wheels, and all the stereo and appearance equipment that they installed.
very true. Reading it earlier I was thinking to myself there's alot of people in the 10's now. I'm just curious because you see all these stock block records being made but people usually have a little bit of head work done. Being why I ask my question in the first place. I'm currently on a stock longblock, intake manifold, and throttle body and went 10.69 @ 133.
