first time at the track with the evo
Went to Island Dragway last nite and ran 2 runs and did decent forr the first time with a awd car on a track
60'-1.82
330-5.4
1/8th-8.5
1/4-13.3@103
60'-1.9
330-5.6
1/8th-8.6
1/4-13.4@104
keep in mind im on a stock tune, fuel pump is not installed, stock boost, and 235/45/17 blizzack snowtires. i figure tuned with good street tires and decent weatherr ( it was like 37 degrees) i shud knock down to a high 12 hopefully.

I dunno if you've got a 12 in ya, but I think that's pretty good. Trapping only 103mph doesn't seem to have enough power to hit a 12 unless you really crack off a good 60ft imo.
A 1.82 60ft isn't too shabby - congrats.

i was at island to last night with my evo and was cracking lows 13's with a lightly modded evo. the weather sucked cause it was so cold. i was hitting 13.1 and 13.2 all night with ****ty 60 foot times. it just wasnt grippy enough last night. what color was your evo? i had the yellow with carbon hood and painted black stockers.
The blizzaks don't negatively affect your times or mph, and the cold weather is a good thing. You will only get slower in warmer weather. If you have an MBC installed, then you're not at stock boost. You may have it only turned up to 20psi, but the MBC reduces taper on the top-end, which is where you spend most of your time on the drag strip.
Tuned @ 22psi will definitely make more power, though.

yeah, warr, i figured that the snowtires had less grip then good street tires and thats why i was spinning a bit and with the cold weather i wasnt concered about performance just traction, colder tires and cold ground donw help either.
i was the black evo 8 in the low 13's, i was actually right next to you in the lanes prior to my first run. i only made 2 passes tho then i watched my buddy run his ( my old car) blue camaro z28 and make embarrising passes with it ( 15.7) when its a low 13 sec car.

yeah i remember being next to you. the cold weather actually didnt help that much. when the temperature dropped about 10 degrees from 6:30 pm to 8:30 you could def. feel the track get a little slicker. the drop in temp gave about 1 extra mph. granted it was only my second time ever running at a track so i know i need alot of practice. i was consistent though. every time down was 13.1 or 13.2 at 104. with the amount of mods i have i should be hitting high twelves but again i need pratice with my launches. every 60ft time was in the high 1.7's and low 1.8's. warrtalon any tips on some good launches? hey nasty when you going down again?
No, the traction really isn't an issue. The stock Advans are made for cornering, not launching, because they have a stiff sidewall. All-seasons and snow tires have soft sidewalls, which are better for launching. Now, with snow tires, they have a soft sidewall but also much less traction, so the effect is basically evened out. I have cut the same 60's on my RT-615s and Blizzaks.
yeah im am not running the stock advans anymore. i have on the p-zero's which i havent been to impressed with so far. i think part of the reason i couldnt trap higher was because i had to throw the stock 03 plastic dump valve back in and it felt like i was leaking causing some top end loss. my mods are ams fmic w/ upper and lower pipe, act xdss clutch, buschur intercooler, 3" tbe w/ high flow cat, hallman mbc, walbro 255, and a dynoflash mail in tune. i was only hitting around 18/19 pounds of boost settling around 16. my best run was a 13.1 at 103 with a 1.7 60ft time. it felt like i was loosing alot up top and i think it had alot to do with that plastic dump valve. before i had a different upper pipe kit with the mr bov and i could hit 19 lbs and hold it. hopefully my forge dump valve comes in the next few days and i notice an improvement. warrtalon any ideas or do you agree that i should be running a little better with those mods? granted this is only my second time at the track but i just feel the car had more before i put that plastic valve back in. i'll meet up with you next time im down there nasty. i thinking i wanna try and get down there again next friday or sunday. we'll def meet up and get some runs in.
