Question for building boost on 2 step launch control

I got tuned by Al a couple weeks ago, and had a chance to run at the strip 2 days ago: I just have a quick question for those who use a 2 step launch control.

When i am bouncing off the rev limiter, i am not building any boost (i though we were supposed to get ~10psi - variations for individuals though)
My method is, depress clutch in all the way, 1st gear, then slowly press the gas till it starts bouncin off the rev limiter @ around 5750 (but not all the way down). If i go wham on the gas pedal instead of slowly pressing it'll rev till 7800rpm

I just tried pushin the gas pedal down a bit more this time (a few minutes ago) and the car started bouncing off the rev limiter much harsher and harder, but i started to build 5psi..

Question is: Should i press the gas pedal all the way down (or at least further, till i read 10 psi before i launch) or will this start hurtin the car more?

Oh, and i ran a 12.6 @ 111.3 w/ a 1.9 60ft time... i could do better i believe with that trap speed, but damn 3rd gear grind, and well a better 60ft....

Comments?

Thanks...

his first lines stated that he got tuned by Al (dynoflash).

and what i do is i rev twice first. first time to 4k~ish, second to 5k~ish, then floor it. bounces off 6k, and i usually get about 10-12 psi. not sure if its the best way, but it works for me

The whole point of the 2-step is for launching at full throttle. It doesn't work if you're not at full throttle. You just floor it and sit, then work the clutch when the lights come down.

It's not even important how much boost you build, because you can easily launch without a 2-step. People get too hung up on how much boost they see on their boost gauge while using the launch control, but it's not an issue. You should be worried about how to properly modulate the clutch in order to hit good 60's.

Mack, there is no reason to rev twice or whatever you do. Just mash the pedal and go - it won't change how much boost you build on the launch limiter. The amount of boost is determined by RPM you choose.

not saying that i build more boost doing it that way warr. just sounds, to my ears, like it may be a little easier on the engine. as long as i get some boost, i'm good

i stage first and start revving as soon as the other car stages full-throttle. Seems to work well.

Thanks for the help guys, much much appreciated, and thanks Warr as well.

I got a 1.68 60ft time when i had only a catback on when i first got the car, so i'm relating my last runs to almost bald advans and not a well prepped track as an excuse for now
