First time at track.

I have a 2003 Evo with AMS TB, Bushur Intake, Hallman tuned to 22psi, and mellon tuned.

First Run
60' 2.11
1/4mile 13.47
mph 104.56

Second Run
60' 1.97
1/4 mile 13.18
mph 105.23

That one was better but I smelled some clutch so I only made one more run with a really soft launch and got a 13.7. The weather was 80 and very humid.

Should I have had a faster time with my mods, my 60ft s were bad, but I am still learning to launch and I have the stock clutch.

definitely the times should have been faster, high 12s for sure, but your trap is also a little bit low it seems.

Should definitely be trapping about 108-9. Where are you shifting (rpm), and what rpm are you launching at?

I have a 2 step set for 5200 RPM but I was a little gun shy with the stock clutch in there, thats why I had bad 60ft times. I was also shifting at 7000 even though the Rev limiter is raised to 8000.

Should I have revved higher because I have only been tuned for about two weeks still getting used to the new power?

Getting used to the power? Don't think so, because your power is close to stock. That's almost exactly what I ran when my 05 was stock (13.19 vs 13.18), and my 60' was bad, too (1.92). It's just pretty weak, but you also need to improve the driving. Keep practicing...

You need to shift at 7500 in all gears, this will help you out a lot. Also the clutch will be fine for a while as long as you don't smoke it.

Ya I meant that I wasnt used to still having power after 7000 because with the stock tune it choked out. But next time I will rev it out. I smelled a little bit a clutch but it never smoked or slipped. Just smelled a little

No, that would make him run slower. With his mods and power level he should be shifting right around 7k, or earlier in the 1-2 shift. I try not to go past 7500rpm's even with my mods.

It does seem like your down 2-3mph but that could be due to slow shifting or weather.

I'm not sure why you'd give this advice. There's absolutely NO reason for him to shift at 7500 - that just makes no sense. His power peaks well before 7000rpm, and by 7500 the power has tapered off significantly. He should shift around 7000rpm.

hey mortman, not a bad first showing out there... practice those launches and get those 60's in the 1.7x and you'll be in the 12's easily

also shoot me a log of a 1/4 mile run and I'll take a look at it for you to make sure everything is where it should be.

I assumed he had cams which I see he does not. I agree my statement was wrong. Shift at about 7K like the others said.

Qatar, you should get an MBC and a tune from our local flashing expert. There's no reason to have what looks like over $1200 worth of mods and only run 13.7s. That's what stock Evos can run up here. An MBC and tune will only cost $235 and gain WAY more power than the mods you already bought.
