First time at track
First time at track
Took the IX gsr to Speedworld in AZ for the first time. Just learning how to properly launch and react to the light. My car is stock except for Works filter, Volk wheels, and spare removal
The weather was about 75 down to 60 degrees or so. I went w/ my 2 friends. One has AMG E55 Mercedes and the other has 6.0 Trailblazer SS. I was dissapointed in the first run of 14.46 (wore a helmet
). My next 3 runs got consecutively better (no helmet
)...14.34, 14.01, and 13.92 @ 101mph. I felt like I nailed the last run compared to the others so I just stopped running at that. My brother ran mine 3 times and best he could do was 14.01

I'm not totally dissapointed on the numbers for my first time but I was hoping for low 13's. Just mad the E55's best run was 13.8. Now I have to hear the **** talking at work.
Any suggestions on rpm shift points would be helpful. Tire pressure? Launch rpm? Cooling procedure? Passenger window cracked ect.....

sounds to me you just need to practice driving the car more. i mean the magazines say the cars run somewhere between 13.3-13.5(ive seen a lot of different numbers) but you got to remember thats a professional driver. so they know exactly what they are doing

^^ Had a blast. Met two other forum members. Modded 05 RS ran 12.7 and stock 04's best was 14.2. Let me know if you wanna go sometime. Just don't wash your car ahead of time. The place gets filthy. The road on the way in wasn't paved.

buy an ecuflash cable and set your launch limiter to 6k, then lower your tire pressure to about 22psi, then start letting the clutch slip until the car starts to move, when it starts to move quickly come off the clutch.

You definitely did NOT nail the last run. You're still over half a second from where you should be, so you have some work to do, but good job at least trying it out.

I'd also try increasing tire pressure if you're keeping the stock 5K "2-step". You'll need the tire spin to keep the rpms up (keeps the car from bogging with low rpm launches).
Don't worry bro I had awful runs my first time at the track as well (in the high 13s low 14s). Get your 60ft. time down (mid. 1.8s) and work on shifting a little quicker and you should see mid to low 13s.
Are you talking about the two step or the rev limiter?? The two step limits the RPM's with the clutch all the way in. It will not let you rev the car past 5k with the clutch all the way in. This is what you need to be launching from. The actual rev limiter is built in to keep you from reving the car to high while moving from one gear to the next and leaning it out too much and blowing up the engine. Right now I can't think of what it is set at exactly. I am sure a quick search will answer that for you. The rev limiter is different from the two step. You will be fine to shift at 7100-7200 RPM's I do it everytime I am at the track
as well as everybody else I have talked too.
