The open track ***** goes car bowling...

Went to sac today to support a customers evo 9 in his quest for 11's. Decided to run my evo as well just for the hell of it.

This was in open track tune, 334whp mustang, 100oct, 11.3 afr, 24 to 22.5 psi. Car weighed 3280 without me according to the scales at sac raceway.

18x9 rotas with 255/40/18 setup. Car was run off the street with my laptop and tools in the back. Still have clutch restrictor in.

Just wanted to see what it would do as above and with me driving it. Last time I dragged was 1997 I think.

1st run was disaster as you would think when a open track guy tries to launch a car. Roasted the clutch in 1st and 2nd, cut a 2.3 60ft but the car still trapped 114mph.

2nd and 3rd run I got the car to launch well. '2step' set at 5300 rpm. The clutch still didn't feel right in 1st and 2nd and you can see in the 1/8th mph which really didn't go up much from my 1st disaster run.

Either way, the car did a 12.0 two times in a row in the trim stated above so I was happy. Would have loved 11's but I didn't want to do anymore runs and possibly break the car. The guy I went with fragged his tcase or 1st gear so I was spooked anyway.

Car is capable of 11's with a guy that won't kill the clutch and can drive straight fast. I'm happy with the results for a guy that prefers curves.

Rode 4th in the 6spd to the 7780-7800 limiter right at the traps. Car was heavier than I thought it would be, damn rollbars and heavy 18's.

good job that can run 11s without wieght reduction. 114-115 trap speeds are 11s trap speed

2 step needs to be higher and those sixty foot times could be better. With a better sixty the car would be in the 11's no problem.

Indeed. Wasn't out to beat on the car so I tried not to launch hard. Also, like I said I haven't drag raced in years.
