1st track night with the evo!!!! Times inside!!!
HELLLLLLLZ YEA! I've been to the track b4 with a supercharged B18b ina EK and a turbo B18C (which came back to bite me on this night) but this was a TOTALLY different experience!
So I just got an ACT Sprung 6 puck installed 2 weekends ago ( still getting used to driving it let alone launching, lol), by last saturday I had right around 397 miles on it, so I called the local guy here that does my tuning just to double check that I would be ok, lol. He said I will be fine launching the car with that amount of miles, so from there on it was a green light! One great tip that he game me that i never would have thought of was to fill a pump sprayer with about 1/2 ice 1/2 water and give the intercooler a couple sprays right b4 you line up! So I got that ready and got to the track around 6:30ish. Ill do a quick break down of my runs, and keep in mind, 1ST TIME RACING THE EVO, 1ST TIME LAUNCHING THE EVO ON NEW CLUTCH AND ONLY LAUNCHED ABOUT 6 TIMES TOTAL WITH STOCK CLUTCH!
So first run:
60'- 2.04 (terrible)
1/4-12.8
Trap-111.xxx (dont have slips right in front of me)
So I called phuong ( my tuner) after this 1st pass cause I was pissed at my 60' but I knew it wouldnt be amazing since this was the first time doing this, lol.
2nd Run:
60'-1.87
1/4-12.6
Trap-111.xxx ( I do remember my trap was lower than 1st run)
I thought the 2nd run was so so.
3rd or 4th Run: ( cant remember)

This was the fastest of the night for me, funny part was they put me against one of those top fuel dragsters which ran like a 6 or something, lol. First time I couldnt hear my own car at the line, BUT I think I was starting to reel him in towards the top of the track............................................. .........lol.
I waited about 30-45 mins between runs to let it cool down. I had about 3 other runs i think, the other times varied between 12.7-13.0 and just to defend myself, i jacked up HARD on the 13.0, I think my 60' was a 2.1, lol. That was my newb run of the night, i think i get one of those, lol. Ohh and the reason the drag racing from my ek's came back to bite me was because when I would launch those I would have to feather the throttle like mad. So when I got the Evo up on the two step I would hold the throttle there and feather is after launching as opposed to pegging the throttle and letting the two step do its job, ooh well but thats also how I know the car has a lot more in it.
Overall I was pretty happy with the night. I was happy with my times, but I think the best part about it is once I get launching down to 1.6 60ft's I KNOW the car is capable of a 12.1-12.3 1/4. I didnt adjust any tire pressure, I had a 1/2 tank of fuel, full tank of meth, all interior, i went down the damn track with my radio on and I would guess it was around 75-80dg out side. The mods are in my sig but the only major mod would have to be the Meth with the AWESOME tune by Phuong (local in PHX).
I really think I could get this car in the 11's just by learning how to drive it better and getting a tune by Phuong using 100oct fuel with Meth! But I think Im going to be adding the 100oct tune with a set of GSC S1's probably within the next month or two. If you guys have any questions or anything feel free to ask.
