Finally at last!!! Hit 11's

Finally at last, after months and years of being stuck in the 12's I ran an 11 sec 1/4 mile time!

Hello all I just wanted to announce to the whole world that I achieved a personal goal and finally ran a 11 sec run. Well anyway, I went to E-town today and crashed a Honda event. The weather was perfect and a lot of vendors and professional racers were out in full force today. I noticed that the event was pretty well organized at that there werent that many EVO's or STi's out... but anyhow, all afternoon long people got in many many practice runs.....

during tech inspection, they inspected my helmet and made me buy a firesuit.... lol... so anyhow, I go to the souvenir shop to buy one, put it on and was like ok.....but anyhow, today turns out to be a very hot day and with me in the car tt just felt too hot wearing the firesuit and helmet.....

Well onto the runs:

On my first run, I kinda screwed up the launch, bogged and ran:
60' 2.043
330' 5.425
1/8 8.117
MPH 92.63
1000' 10.404
1/4 12.283
MPH 120.64

So I felt kinda like crap, almost went home, but for fear of embarassment and being permanently banned from EVO-NY, I decided to go back for another few runs....

Run 2, and my best:

60' 1.743
330' 4.983
1/8 7.662
MPH 92.54
1000' 9.957
1/4 11.848
MPH 119.72

Run 3, bogged and missed 3rd gear:

60'........1.865
330'.... 5.274
1/8..... 8.091
MPH..... 90.92
1000' .... 10.437
1/4......12.348
MPH......118.94

So after three runs, I'm happy and on a personal high, and decided to call it a day and go home. Today the car weighed in at 3298 with me in the car, I didnt even remove the spare tire or jack, didnt even adjust tire pressures, didnt put in fresh spark plugs or motor oil and ran all of these time with my 18" Ralliart wheels....Overall, I feel that I still need to work on my launches, maybe play with the 2 step a bit, and work at shifting faster down the track, as I am not a fast shifter at all..

Damn man. Congrats! You've got a beast of a car! The weather today in the Tri-State area is almost ideal for some good runs. Good job!

Trap speed seems kind off low, but good job on getting into the 11's.

Congrats, I'm still chasing that 11 sec pass. But I'm working some gremlins out now. How much did the fire suit cost?!?! That's crazy they made you buy one.

Congrats on breaking into 11s I'm not sure what this guy is talking about for your trap speeds. To me, your trap speed is pretty high and your car should have a good bit left in it. I've seen a few slips of people trapping 118-119 and running 11.5-11.6. If you could get your 60' down to a 1.6, you could probably be running around an 11.6 or so.

Thanks, The fire suit/jacket cost me $80. I didnt even have a choice of color plus the lady wouldn't even budge on the price for me

Yeah the one question that the tech got me on was when he asked me how fast the car is, I gave him an estimate....uhhhh high 11's low 12's, then he says stock turbo? Then I'm like no, aftermarket.... then he says well, you have to buy a fire suit!!!

I was wondering why my traps were so low, I have some ideas though, maybe cuz it was friggin hot out today, and also I was running on 18" wheels....

thanks I have to go back on a cold day, with some lighter wheels and see how the car does, honestly at my power output I was hoping for 125-127 traps

Congrats man! nice times...

my friday attempt to go into the 11s wasnt so successful!

my first shakedown pass with 25psi i did a 12.200 @ 114 with a 1.78 60ft but i had REALLY BAD wheel hop, so i babied all the gear changes trying to check if i damaged anything...

Second pass i do some adjustments on my tune, give 3 full turns to the boost controller and get ready to rock and roll... i said all or nothing since it was the last pass for the night!

...6250rpm the 2-step i launch the car, spins all four, goes sideways and then SNAP!!! i cut my rear right axle like butter and i "dislocated" the left one... i will post pictures tomorrow...

Kouzman,

wow, sorry to hear about the axle thing, that shouldnt happen??
But I guess with enough wheelspin and no traction while going sideways I guess thats why an axle can pop out.

as for your wheel hop situation, would you consider getting a motor mount upgrade? For me I am using Buschur Racings front and rear motor mounts....I thought of getting the AMS side mounts, but the Buschur guys told me its not needed.....but anyway in all honesty, I've never expericed wheelhop in my EVO.....
and I'm still on the stock Bilstein MR suspension! but I do believe that the motormounts help, at the expense of more interior vibration though

Another thing I did with my suspension was add the Energy Suspension rear diff carrier bushings, rear moustache bar bushings, and rear trailing arm bushings....I think this helps with traction and helps hold the rear diff in place under hard acceleration...

Its about time Charlie. However, you are still running stock turbo times. I went 11s at 118 on the stocker, on pump gas, on 18s. Just to rub that in You went 124mph before, so not sure why you car is running so much slower. Id check to see if any boost leaks or something, because you had basically a 4-5mph drop from last time and thats not good.
