what i do is roll into staging with the clutch out just far enough for the car to be moving but not quite fully out as soon as the staged lights come on rip the hand brake on,rev to around 6000rpm leave clutch where it is on the third yellow drop clutch and hand brake both as quick as possible.

2 step at 5500-6000, pull up the e-brake every so slightly let off the clutch ever so slightly until the drivetrain gets tight then slip it a little and off you go like a bat out of hell!!

I just made a thread with a video showing my launch technique. A quick slip at 5500-6000 rpms will prevent bogging and won't be as shocking to the drivetrain as dropping the clutch. Sometimes on the dragstrip, the tires will screetch off the line. <-Thats when I usually get my best 60' times (1.6x), while also doing minimal damage to the drivetrain.

Here's the video

2) Why do you call it a "racing" clutch? ACT makes a bunch of clutches. Which one do you have?

3) Why do you have a "racing" clutch on a stock Evo?

4) Why are you even trying to launch the car if you don't have money to fix things? You could easily break your transmission and/or t-case and be out close to $5k after one launch. You shouldn't even be CONSIDERING such a thing if you are that worried about repairs. There is no way to launch that won't potentially blow up everything in your drivetrain, even the best launch methods. The only method that is sure not to break anything is a non-launch, which is a waste at the drag strip.

5) You shouldn't be launching below 5500rpm ever.
Dude--you are yelling again. It isn't so much the content-- we apprecate your knowledge-- but the delivery.
