is this right?

I beat a 2006 Mustang Saleen S281 at the track the last night. My time was 12.7 and his was 12.9. I was surprised about the outcome. I imagined me getting spanked. Does the Saleen driver sound like a good driver? Or was the outcome about right?

I think that's fast for a saleen. I don't know a whole lot about the newer saleen's, but i do know that they're are sleds! I raced several in california on an 1/8 mile track and they were lucky to break into the 8's, and one guy even had slicks and ran 8.8. I was running 7.7's at that time.

The new S281 is 435bhp, but weights 3600lbs without driver.

Assuming he's making 385rwhp and has a driving weight of 3800lbs, the best he can hope for is about a 12.5 on a perfect launch. What were his 60' and trap speeds?

Don't know about what the S281 should run, but unless he had slicks, he would have trouble keeping up with any Evo having your power. As for yourself, you're way off where you should be, so still have a lot of work to do.

His car was hauled on a trailer and was by no means stock.
His 60' was 1.84. And his trap speed was 107.91.

Yeah, I knew that. My best time was 12.7 in the 1/4. My friends time in the same car was 12.5. I know I have work to do. My car should be in the low 12's I think.

Yes, 341whp uncorrected on a Dynojet is good for 113-114mph traps and 12.0-12.1.

Give him some time, he is new to Evo's and will definitely be hitting lower times.

Have fun learning - it's a blast. I, too, learned how to really drive at Coastal Plains Raceway.
