How to launch on the track?
you would setup the two step in your tune... you can change your 2 step rpm using ECUFlash also...
here is how i launch... (ACT HDSS 6-puck sprung Cerametallic clutch)
launched the same on the stock clutch...
---depress clutch
---1st gear
---2 step (hold throttle to the floor with clutch depressed to just past the slipping point) ((((---hopefully if you are going to attempt launching your car, you KNOW where the clutch starts grabbing... you should be just below that point on your clutch...))))
---When ur ready to go, DO NOT DUMP THE CLUTCH!!!... it would be cheaper to slip it til it burns up than dump it...
---So again, when its time to launch, release the clutch towards engagement and wait for the
car to start moving... then you just slip accordingly to speed... the faster the car moves the faster you let out on the clutch...
(remember)--- too slow is burning your clutch... too fast is eating your tcase ALIVE... DO NOT "ShockLoad" the drivetrain... its really really expensive...
you will KNOW if you launched it right... generally if you launch correctly your rpm's shouldnt exceed 6k and it should be a smooth acceleration off the line... very quick, but smooth...
if you exceed 6 thousand rpm's you are slipping the clutch too much, and if you release too fast you will know... you can feel it...
the more times you do it the more you get it... its all about feel...
i got lucky, i had it first time out no problem, here is my first launch ever, and that was on the stock clutch... but its a good example... just listen to the car to know what to expect...

notice that most of the acceleration happens after the initial forward movement...

P.S. after your initial movement, the release is pretty fast... just pull your foot up, but try and do it where your rpms stay up too... doing this will be alot easier on a stock clutch... aftermarkets bite harder and faster so its hard to keep the revs up...

great info! thanks!
I just had my tranny rebuilt and i have put on it almost 1200 miles so far, do u guys think its ready for a launch? or should I put more? oh and my tc was replaced about 1200 miles ago too. what do u guys think?
Thanks
Thanks
if you drove the shtuff out of it after like 500 miles, id say hell yeah, go for it! but if they are just daily driver miles i would wait... the contact patch on the gears might not have evened out yet...
another possibility, drive the crap out of it for ab 200 miles, that will finish wearing them in...
finally, how is your rear differential??? you got everything else, but how ab the rear diff???
P.S. I LOVE THIS FORUM! def a different vibe you get when you're here!
this is funny actually... i put my clutch in and had to be back in Houston for class on monday, so i didnt have the fluid in or the pedal adjusted yet... just the minor things left...
my dad finished it up for me cause i had to leave to come back, so my dad put ab 250 miles on it doing a break in like downshifting and upshifting every 20 mins on the way up here...
i got in the car, drove it a bit, then launched the shtuff out of it!!! lol
(knowing its not the best thing to do, but that launch finished breaking it in)
works great since!!!
i would say- PROPS do having someone break it in for you! leaves all the fun to you without having to go thru the boring part! lol

honestly, it depends on how hard earned those 1200 miles were... but personally, i would wait til ab 2k... did a new clutch go in on this also??? clutch should be well broken in by now if so...

no clutch replacment, iam still on the stock clutch. and been driving it quite hard to be honest, not during shifting, i tend to ease in the gears before releasing the clutch and not dog shift it. however, red line is my bff when iam on the roll. i think iam gonna wait for another 500miles just to be safe, get another oil change and wills ee how it goes.
my diffs are good, they didn;t need to be changed or anything,
