oh, thanks for clearing that up. i know how awd works. ive read the awd for dummys thread. but seriously, same question to you then, that i asked mike in post #4. I really want to know why if the diameter is the same, does the tread design matter so much? At least in the matter of one being a actual pattern and one being smooth. Im not going to try it, im just curious.

I cant say 100% you will screw up the diff or not if they are just close and you dont ride 5k miles like that.. no matter what youll NEVER match the size to a slick with a radial.. When the slick reaches speed it grows.. what you may start out at as far as tire height wont be what you end up at on the top of the track..

Sounds like that could end up in a messy situation. If you look at the photo below you can see its not the rears that have trouble with traction. It's the fronts that have a problem griping when the weight shifts to the rear.

AWESOME pic Tony and exaclty why not only is it about using a sticky tire but also how the suspension reacts to the launch which is why it's truley amazing to see what a properly adjusted suspension with slicks can do for an awd evo launch......not like my half-assed lowerinf spring/oem strut combo does

Motorcycle slicks are relatively cheap and you can find stock Evo VIII wheels pretty cheap as well. if you want to run slicks do it correctly and without sacrificing the driveline in the process.

I guess technically you could say that running motorcycle slicks isn't "correct" but i know what you mean

Its really sweet how 90% of the responses didn't even answer the question....they were just condescending comments made by people who just follow the herd. Heaven forbid someone would have a unique idea.

Then a good response as to why it isn't a good idea.
