how to launch and not smoke clutch?

I did a few practice runs last night, and I reved to 5000-5500, and dumped the clutch, got a bog at about 3000. so I came around and staged at 5000-5500, and tried to slip the clutch, all I got was clutch smell, and a second gear grind. any body got advice? I am thinking about 6000-6500 and dump the clutch, any body tried this ? I need a better way, on a stock clutch.

mods: RNR 3inch cat back, Ultimate 3inch DP + Cat removal pipe,
saf-II, joey p MBC 20 psi, forge BOV, stock clutch.

Oh yea by the way you cant just rev to 5000rpm and slip it will BOG, what I did was keep REVING the engine and try to maintain a 5000 RPM and once i am about to fully release the clutch i floor it.

The only way to not burn it is to not do it, with that said rev to low 5k, slip until it engages, then mash it to the floor. That is how most people are getting good results. You can launch higher but have a clutch replacement on standby.

If you dump you will bog everytime. Its all about how well you can slip it or feather it. Make sure that once it engages you let off the clutch before you mash it, or it will smell bad and put your clutch 6 feet under

I've made quite a few passes in my EVO and have tried every method of launching. I found that my best times came from launching at 6500 while dropping the clutch. It may not be so good for the drivetrain but it works.

It takes some getting used to, but once you get it, it will be automatic

If you can smell the clutch while launching you are not slipping it fast enough.
6500rpm clutch dumps--->bad for drivetrain..at least on my car.
