Second time out with the FS635
Second time out with the FS635
After my first outing with the new setup and some decent results i was very eager to try again...
I went again to Island Dragway with the muscle car guys... I managed only two passes since there were a lot of break down of the alcohol guys and we had some delays...
First pass i started were i had left last week... 25psi on the tires, 6300rpm on the 2step. I have to say that the air temp was in the high 70s instead of the low-mid 80s last week and the air was less humid and on the AEM logs i was seeing 27-28 pounds of boost...
rt 0.702
60ft 2.068
330ft 5.479
1/8 8.080
mph 99.52
1000ft 10.257
1/4 12.051
mph 128.21
Of course i bogged again and i was very impressed with the track prep since with my snow tires i was having trouble to launch hard!
I was happy that i started to see the traps that i am expecting to see with the current boost and on pump and for a 3400 lbs car i think its quite fast...
The extra bonus this time is that i have videos from the cluster shooting the tachometer!
First pass
Second pass i raise the 2step to 6450rpm and retarded the ingition thus allowing for boost to build at the start... I had my best RT ever and my best 1/8 trap ever but SILLY ME i lost 4th gear, second time ever! I am pretty sure the car had a 130 trap on this pass since i picked up almost 2 miles on the 1/8 from my 128.2 mph pass...
rt 0.262
60ft 1.973
330ft 5.307
1/8 7.870
mph 101.07
1000ft 10.199
1/4 12.177
mph 117.83
The video...
Second pass
With more practice i will definitely get the times to probably low 11s unless and remove some weight of the car and get better tires and try to shoot for 10s on pump!

kouzman, the turbo on your car is our FS635? What else is done to the car? Who tuned it and what kind of fuel are you running and what power did it make?
That turbo is capable of 9.20's at 155+mph. I know you are just starting to work with the car and such and I am in no way trying to insult you. I just want to add some input if I can to help.

The car has:
- 2.0 litre built motor (Wisecos, Carrillos, balanced, ACL bearings, BR balance shaft deletes)
- stock uported head with Cossie M2s and supertech dual valvetrain and L19 head studs
- stock intake manifold and throttle body
- BR tubular manifold FS635 82 a/r
- BR race fmic with BR licp
- Nisei uicp with Tial 50mm bov
- Dejon 100mm intake pipe with K+N filter
- BR twin pumper and BR PT 1200cc injectors
- BR downpipe from the turbo kit, UR resinated testpipe, Invidia G200 catback
- AEM EMS tuned by Junior
- I have the motor with less than 1000 miles so i dont want to push it harder yet.
- Rev limiter is at 9000rpm
- At the track i am seeing 10.8-11 afrs
- Boost does not exceed 28 psi on the subject passes
- Running Sheel Vpower 93 octane
At around 26-27 psi we made 460awhp on the Shop's Dyno Dynamics (1.0 cf). Sorry for the bad dynosheet but you can definitely see the curve. It pulls straight all the way to 9000rpm and i am sure if we up the limiter it will pull ever higher. is it possible that the curve is so flat because of the stock head or the stock intake manifold and throttle body?

(red line is 1.0cf and blue line is 1.2cf)
- The car with me in weights 3400 pounds with half tank and a small bag of tools probably around 15 pounds. Thats the biggest difference with other cars that run here since other cars weight at least 300 less with driver!!! Still have a/c, power steering, full interior, insulation material, have a GT spec trunk cage, an RMR underbrace, Stock shocks, Tanabe springs.
Weight saving mods i have: no spare wheel, jack, Baer 2piece rotors front/back, BR moustache bar, AMS front support bar, small battery kit, no wing, Kosei K1TS wheels and thats about it i think.
It seems that with a boost around 30psi or so on pump and better driving the car with go 130+ on pump even with the 3400 lbs weight. I know that if i drop more weight of the car just from that it will go faster. And then of course we have racegas!!! I am not fan of meth injection.
Dave, do you think i am way off in terms of mph for 27-28psi boost and a 3400bs car? Your insight and help of course is very important!

On the second pass i had the 2step at 6450rpm and the car tried to launch better but i guess i didn't slip the clutch enough and i bogged again but not as bad as the first time!
I guess the snow tires @ 25psi and the track prep were quite a sticky combo!!!

Also i do not flat shift! I only did it on the first pass on the 3rd to 4th gear change but thats why i missed it the second time!
Maybe i need to adjust my pedal stop again...

Because all the muscle cars were launching way better than me i was showing to a couple of guys there whos the king in terms of real power! On the second pass the oldtimer with the classic corvette, that you can hear in the video, couldn't believe how i was pulling him up top!!!
When they were asking me what i had under the hood i was telling them "....122 cubic inch 4 cylinder lawn mower..." HAHAHAHA
