What is the optimal rpm rev for a drag launch? Also, is there a way to launch without severly damaging your clutch? That's a dumb question, but i thought I'd at least ask.

I launch best while holding rmps at 4grand then slipping the clutch out while throttling and once boost is built which will happen before you get the clutch out let the rest out quick while WOT, don't dump but let it out quick you will have all 4 wheels loose. I have seen people have good launches by just flat out dumping at about 5 grand but the launch was a little unpredictable on the stock clutch due to it slipping or heating up fast and second would slip. People have luck both ways but I would rather burn the clutch on a bad launch than break somthing. Just my 2cents.

I seem to get the most traction by doing this and boost builds quick , your lauch actually happens about 3500 - 4000rpms which is the high tourque range. And it feels like you get bolted out of a slingshot.

Just be sure to have a clutch fund avalible before you try some really harry launches. Some EVO clutches seem softer than others.

What should we reserve for the new 'clutch fund'?

The price of a new clutch and installation.... Unless you are going to do it yourself. Clutch is between $500 and $1500 depending on what you want. Check one of the sponsors for prices. I have no clue what installation would be but I would bet on $500.

Installs seem to run about 700+ on the EVO. Even the Mitsu dealer will do this for you for around 700+ in labor just talk to them first about it. If you take your car to Mitsu your car will still retain warranty as well so it would be a good move unless you decide to do a ton of mods such as a bigger turbo.
