26x8x17 would be perfect. Most drag racers run coil over anyway plus the larger diameter tire helps keep the RPM down going through the traps. With a 25" tire, I would sometimes have to shift to 5th going through the trap.

Thanks MT!!! I know the Subby guys will be happy to hear about this too since many of them run the 26x7 motorcycle slick.

Sorry Dave def don't want to spout out mis-info so maybe i should have been more clear since some may not know that i run Willwoods up front so i'm not 100% sure how they will fit w/ a 17" wheel w/ oem offset etc.

FWIW I did run 26" QTP's on oem struts w/o any issues and only had slight rubbing at high speeds when i switched to the MT 26" ET Drags which is why i went with the D2's.

So are you saying they should make them in a smaller height for the masses? I a bit confused because we both said 26"

a 25.7" tire would be better simply so more people could use them with factory suspension. That little bit of difference frees up quite a few potential customers.

I guess our idea of fender mods is different. Between my coilovers and the rears being rolled and pulled I can fit them with no issues. I have had the 26-8.5-15 (measures- 0.3" less tread than the 26-10.50-16) MT on my car on a wheel with 19mm offset and a 3mm spacer to clear the rear caliper without rubbing. I also run 265-285s depending on what I am doing, but they can fit just fine. The 275-40-17 actually has 1/2" more tread surface than the 26-11.50-17 and is .8" taller advertised, sagged out at pressure they arent quite 26.5".

My point was there are tires available that work, I didnt say that they would necessarily be easy or for everyone I agree that they wont work on a stock car, and even one that has minor fender mods (rolling only).

The 26x17 you posted John is 26.5" tall and has sidewall width of 11.10", that is not an easy fit and most guys are not going to want to do what it takes to squeeze them in.

The 26x16 I bought for reference was 25.9" tall and 10.3" on the sidewall and I was unwilling to do anything else to make them fit. I ended up putting the Hoosier QTP's, 26x8.5x16 back on.

Just adding this so nobody runs out and buys either of those tires to try.

Rolling fenders is border line SIN to me, pulling them isn't acceptable. So yes, difference of what is acceptable for mods to run a set of tires, I agree with that. I see too many hacked up POS EVO's as it is, I don't want to promote anyone else ruining another one. These guys running pulled front fenders with spacers to get them away from the body, all that stuff is just ruining a good car in my opinion. Taking fender liners out and beating the crap out of the inner fender wells to clear tires.........none of that are things I'm personally willing to do to a car I plan to keep. On a race car is another thing.

Perfect, plus the shorter the tire the better the ET.
