The way I understand it is a car is continously displacing air as it moves at a certain speed. The air has to open at the front of the car, and close at the back of the car. This requires energy which is extracted from the moving vehicle. The more streamline you make it, the less energy is extracted. Imagine using a sharp knife to cut something rather than a dull knife. Requires a lot less force.
Now to the drag wing. As the air comes off the back of the car, it has to fill a empty pocket of air that the car has displaced. This creates a vacuum force that pulls the car back. What the wing does is puts this point of vacuum force further away from the back of the car, causing less pull on the car.
Old thread but as I find it I will not open new one.
I would like to make a wing for my drag evo too.
But I don't know what to do with the lips at edges..
Most of evo the A lip they have it.. some others no.
Anyone knows exactly that is it doing ?
The B lip most evo don't have it. As I know it help to increase the downforce of the rear.. FWD honda also they don't have it because they don't want more weight on the back. Most rwd they have it because they want downforce weight.
Your opinions about the B lip?
I don't know very good the meaning of drag.
The more drag the more slower the car, right?
So some drag cars they don't put the B lip to have better times?
Maybe RWD add it to have better downforce so more weight at rear wheels, right?
So for the EVO isn't necessary ?
