high speeds breaking evo 9 wings?!

just what it says, decided to peg my 9 out to a good 1**mph on a race track of corse, held it there for a sec and let off, when i looked back my wing looked like a "V". Was like wtf, pulled over and took it off.

now i know theres all this about does and evo wing really function. and i have a spare wing in my garage off my previous 8, and im 190lbs and can stand and pretty much jump on the wing without it breaking,.........

so while i was in orlando for the new years i decided to swing by CFT and toss the beat on the dyno along with kickn it with omar. got to talkn to them and one of them, cant recall his name, said he's broken 2 evo 9 wings from going fast. this might sound kinda ehhh, but it is what it is.

has anyone else with an evo 9 experienced this?!?!?!?

Hmm I've been up there quiet a few times and no issues. Maybe defective from the factory? I think this would be poppin up everywhere considering the type of drivers us Evo owners are...

and when i brought it up at CFT, they laughed and pointed out that one of em broke two. was kinda suprised. ive been on EvoM for awhile and never heard of anything like it,..

also stated that the evo 9 wing is nowhere near as close as the 8 so dunno.

I've taken my 8 well up to beyond redline and have had no problems but i did see a 9 in town once and that wing was thiner then mine so that could be a problem.. i've heard of it once before on here but everyone just picked on that guy cuz he was just goin down the highway, said he must of done somethin to it cuz it shouldn't break like that..

this is the exact reason when i traded my VIII in for my IX i kept my VIII wing (luckiliy both tarmac black cars). theres a few other threads around evoM i think about this also happening i dont think you are the only one. the IX's wing is plastic on the sides as opposed to the VIII being all carbon fiber.

yeah but mine cracked right in the middle. omar hooked it up and gave me a blue 8 wing that was in pretty good shape, but this wingless is starting to grow on me.

168 mph (not on public roads) but no issues to report... wonder if the extra lip on the MR wing makes much/any difference?

I know a guy whose wing snapped in half while doing the 1 Mile race here in South Florida a few months ago. He was going 160 mph + though.
