Just a theory ...
mine is a gsr but i have a vortex gen.

and okay guys enough with the "i went 100-120mph and no problems here", as stated when this happened i was going 170mph, and yes it was on a "1 mile track".

My wing broke at the mile event here in Miami.
It broke at around 175 MPH, it is a 2006 MR. Here are some pics.

Last time I was spinning the wheels and puttin down some serious HP on the dyno in 4th gear, I looked back and my wing was bent down almost to the trunk lid. I had to back off quick, yo, so no pics of the event...

Well, I don't spend a lot of time at the dragstrip, but the car does put out 482HP/462TQ, which is more than enough to burn all the gas I put in it

482whp can't get you in the 11sec club?

I can only imagine a few evo9 owners having a garage full of spare wings. I wish there was a picture of that. sigh

i got 2 8's and 1 broke 9

when i get back from this deployment i MIGHT paint one of the 8's and toss it on,... the wingless is starting to grow on me.

you would think w/ the cost of an evo they would make a durable wing....

Yeah, I would hope so. It sucks but then again it doesn't break until about 150+ so it will probably hold up for most people.

Doesn't the vortex generator increase downforce by swirling the air and thereby causing more air to hit the wing more effectively? So, a vortex generator would increase the likeliness of the wing breaking.

+1, dont quote me on it but ive heard from somewhere it increase pressure on the wing by 10%(which is a crap load).
and alot of what ive heard from people about it is, "the evo doesnt need the wing". and yeah no crap it doesn't need it, but if its putting enough pressure on it to break it i would think AAAALLLL that extra pressure on the back of the car would help a lil in aerodynamics. which is why im considering paintn one of the 8 wings i got and tossn it on!
