EVODAN2004's ''project 9s'' take 2

where do i begin. i will make it short because i can babble for days here. if you have followed my progress over the past year+ i have been trying like hell to run 9s. i know there are maybe people well into the 9s and some guys running 8s all day. but i cant seem to crack a 9.99 or better. why i don't know.

i finished last year with a best of 10.12 @ 139 at the 19th DSM/EVO shootout. i had all kinds of issues as well. i posted about it in my last thread somewhere. i really do not feel like talking about every issue i had from then till now. there was many many problems. some my own fault and some were not. anyways moving on.

anyways many many months later i am BACK. BACK to try again to run 9s in a street car. i changed a few things though.. not much but a few. last year i was using a HTA86 T4 1.06 turbo. i swapped out for the new 6466 T4 1.15 turbo. the ATP T4 1.06 housing i had on the HTA turbo was cracked in 4 spots inside which i didnt know until i pulled it off. i dont know if that hurt the car's performance or what. anyways there is the new snail upgrade.

i also was using the OS Giken triple plate clutch. at high RPM it was hard to shift. so i went back the the QM new 8 leg clutch. today i got to drive it quite a bit and it is a huge improvement over the old QM i had before the OS Giken. so that's that.

next thing i changed is cams. i was running the BR-BF-272 cams. i upgraded to the STM-650 cams. i see a lot of great results with these cams. they might not be the ideal street cam but that's ok. i think they will do just fine. they seem to give guys a huge bump in top end.

another change is wheel bearings. i bought Curt browns ceramic wheel bearings. 60% less drag over stock and some other cool benefits. more on this later. with the wheel bearings i bought the CNC E-Brake setup. which eliminates the factory E-Brake setup reducing drag and dropping 10lbs of weight. not a bad combo here. thanks David B. for this one.

also i picked up the new style DI manifold. nothing crazy over the old version i had other then Billet runners. so its not really a power change.

as for fuel delivery last year it was on PTE 1200CC injectors, BR double pumper, perrin fuel rail with stock FPR, and stock lines. this year is the same BR double pumper with upgraded custom made feed line, fuel lab FPR kit and ID2000 injectors.

lastly is weight savings. im not going into detail. its all out there somewhere... the car is down 120 LBS from last year. that is pretty good IMO. i still have a full street trim car and all the specs needed to be called a street car ''in my eyes'' it should weigh right around 2780 no driver. not the lightest car but still decent.

the car will be tuned by Ivey tune on E85 this year VS last years 100octane. other then that thats it for now.

my plan is to get the car tuned ASAP. get to the track to feel the car out and to just get back in the grove. i do not want to run 9s though on this ''test'' trip. honestly with OHIO's 20th DSM/EVO shootout that is where i want to bust out a 9 second pass for the first time ever. so as long as i don't brake the car ill be at Ohio going all out full bore looking for that special pass.

thanks for reading and thanks to all who have giving me help, support, and just dealing with me. HA. see you at Ohio......

so how much boost were you running when you trapped 139-141 on the old setup? Is your car full weight?

Either way I'd say you've got it now lol

Pump gas was 31psi @ 137
100oct was 40psi @ a best of 141.88 and that 10.12 pass @ 139. The thing about that pass was at around the 1000/1100 foot mark one of my injector plugs fell off the injector.

You got this dan You will go 9s this year for sure. Your car is lighter and making more power. Those STM 650 cams are awesome. You will see a big difference on top end and in power. No better time to run 9s then at the shootout right? See ya there bud!

GL Dan i know you've been trying hard to get that 9sec slip and i'm sure you will this year!

Would be sweet to do it at the SO

Sounds like you have a lot of new parts that should make it easier to reach your goal.
