launching help

bout a month and a half ago i went to the track. its never really bugged me until now reading though these threads bout 60's and stuff. my best 60' was a low 1.9 slipping the clutch hard. now im still on stock t-case trans clutch and rear end with 105k on the car. mods are buschur turbo back buschur intake grimmspeed boost controller at 20psi (stock tune still) and torque solutions rear diff mount bushings. am i being to gentile on the launch? car went 13.4 at 105. im launching at about 5-5500 with no 2 step. im just really afraid of breaking the t-case right now

Try launching at 6k. Gas pedal all the way to the floor and a quick slip of the clutch. Remember, the key to not breaking drivetrain parts its avoiding drivetrain shock. So easy off the clutch slowly till you feel the car start to wanna move forward and then slip. You can also use the handbrake.

Preloading is a very good way to avoid shocking the drive train to much.

I handbrake mine on the launch. Everything is stock on my driveline except the clutch.

Once you light up the first staging light start lifting up the clutch slowly till it rolls forward and light up the next light then hold the hand brake up with the clutch in the same position as it is pre loaded. Then rip the hand brake down and the clutch at the same time. It's okay you don't have to slip the clutch as your already pre loaded. This has got me 1.6 60fts almost every time. I know it sounds like a lot but it's not. I do it in my videos if u wanna check it out you can see exactly what I'm doing

When you say "with the clutch in the same position as it is preloaded" do you ,ean that whole time while waiting to go you have your clutch slipping a little bit, or is the pedal all the way to the floor? I would think riding the clutch for that long can't be as good as the "slowly let the clutch out until it grabs a little then let it rip" method.

Yea I wouldn't stay on it that long because you will be eating the disks away. Just once that second staging light comes on I start bringing the clutch up till I feel it grab and by the time you do that the lights are coming down already. That's another reason y I always let the other person I'm racing stage first so once I light up that second staging light I just pre loaded and then the lights come rite down in 2-3 seconds. I wouldn't stay pre loaded any longer than that and u do it as lightly as possible the clutch should barely be ing aged it's just that point where your rite there. I'm not the greatest at explaining these things lol

It's like I'm feathering the clutch while that second light comes on. Also I know exactly where my clutch catches
