Getting better but I still Suck!

Ran the Evo at Cali. Speedway on Sat and the cars power didn't let me down. first run 12.65 at 108 with a 1.801 60 ft. 2nd run the car seemed faster due to the cooler air but the 60 was in the 1.95 range and I still did a 12.667 at 108.88. BTW My 1/8 time on the 2nd run was 90mph. 3rd run I f-up the launch and couldn't get it in 4th and ran a 13.2 at 104. FWIW my low trap speeds are probably a product of my 3rd-4th shift problems inherent on my car at high rpms. I have to push the clutch down all the way and come off boost before i grind it in. I know this hurts my momentum and hinders my trap speed and ets. Besides that if I could of cut a 1.8 60ft on my 2nd run 12.3 or 12.4 would of been achievable even with the gear grinding issue. The 1st run I short shifted most of the gears to get in a clean run. My mph at the1/8 was 85mph. My last two runs were 90mph and 88mph in the 1/8 but getting into fourth is hard when I rev it above 7000 rpm. Well enough excuses already I still suck! BTW I ran with the high-flow cat so next time the delete pipe goes in and hopefully a shortshifter with bushings. May 29th I need to get low 12s as my friend at work just bought an 02 Viper and another has an 03 vert Cobra with a few modds. Should be fun win or lose.

Yeah I have the same problem as you. I actually have to powershift to make it a good shift now. BTW, what mods do you have.. 12.6@108 is a good time.

IE Evo has the Vishnu Stage 1+ and, I believe, an upgraded clutch.

Your 88 and 90 mph 1/8 mile traps should easily get you into low 12s on a clean run.

The Viper and Cobra should be good competition - but not unbeatable.

Ask Shiv to e mail you my c-16 map after you get rid off the cat.
Thats another 10+whp, I believe..

Good luck

great runs mannnnnn!!!!!!!!awesome time.

try double clutching going into 4th it helps slowing down your syncros and gears w/out dropping out of boost.

I have stage 1+ FROM VISHNU. As for downloading a C16 map I don't think it's possible. Shiv custom tuned my car around knock problems and the Works boost tube. With a baseline map I believe my car boosts too high from what I remember. Not the most intellectual person when it comes to tuning but I believe that was the problem along with my Evo being prone to knock. As far as double clutching I do that but I feel that time is lost and boost is lost. When I get the occasional grind shift w/o losing boost the difference is noticable. But the higher I go into the rpm band the more likely that 4th gear will be missed or severly grinded. With Shiv's tune reving it up to at least 7500 rpm before shifting is optimal for hauling ***. I am very happy with his tune on my car and at Cal Slickway my times are pretty good. Stis are having a hard time out there and I have yet to see one break into the 12s. I don't think Cal Speedway is a fast track especially the launch area. Driving thru the h2o area sucks *** for Awd cars. I feel the cat delete and shortshifter with bushing will get me in the low 12s. Also as far as launching goes I feel that practicing on the street can be costly to your wallet as i can attest and it really feels different launching at that dragstrip. I do launch conservatively at all times so I don't ever expect a 1.6 but a 1.7 would be nice.
