Optimal rpm launch for most torque

I was wondering what the optimal rpm lauch should be for the EVO? A tuner shop told me 7000 rpm but a rep at Lancershop.com told me that between 5500 - 5800 rpm is the best because that is the most torque at launch for AWD cars. Who is right, if anybody?

After my flash (324tq @ 3400) I slip-dropped just under 6000 and spun all 4 advans on dry tarmac. Anything below that and the car stutters, and anything above that I don't dare do. It seemed like it was just about perfect for my car.

I think it has a lot to do with how your torque curve is set up...

It also has a lot to do with how much you slip your clutch.

If you let out the clutch too fast from a low launch RPM you bog the crap out of the car. If you let the clutch out too fast from a high RPM you get some wheel spin. A bog hurts your times worse than some wheels spin, so a higher RPM launch works better for drag racing in most cases. My best results are at right around 6K RPM with an agressive slip.

i think i've tried everything at a stop light, i usually do it in front of the police station...

anyway, to the point

i found that 6500 for me was too much, all four light up i still get a 1.6 60"

but 5000 seemed to work better

same here - 6000 and a fast slip . works every time.
1.72 60ft stock clutch

Last time I tried 7,000 rpm launches the car went sideways at the track; and its real abusive to the driveline.

Experiment between 5,500 and 6,000 and quick slip.
(slightly less shock on the driveline and excellent traction)

quick correction...it's not the torque but the horsepower. Max torque is around 3500 but at that rpm the EVO does not have enough horsepower to break the tires loose.
