03' mustang svt vs. eagle talon

Agreed, I have heard DSM's called "the Mustang of the import world" because they are so cheap to modify for power.
They are VERY different animals, though. A Mustang has that low-end torque only a V8 can give you. You can also get more parts for one, such as bullet-proof drivetrains, which you cannot get for a DSM.
With a DSM, you get AWD, which means no slicks needed. It also is a bit of a sleeper car.
I had to make the decision, and I chose a AWD Talon. I really don't regret it. With the AWD, I can drive in any weather condtion. I pull 1.7 60ft times on all-season tires, run high 12s at the dragstrip, and beat 90% of the Mustangs I run against. And nobody expects my stock-looking "4-banger, Jap-crap" car to beat much, so the pissed-off look on the v8 guys face can usually be counted on.
But, I still have respect for the Mustang. It's cheap speed, just like my car. Just because you prefer one over the other doesn't mean you can't respect both.

That lead me to believe its launch wasn't as quick, but it caught up...characteristic of what I've seen, read and heard with the GS-T's...but did Eagle even make FWD TC'd Talons? I guess it also depends whether they LAUNCHED 2 car lengths apart or whether the Mustang took a 2 car lead...the latter is how I read it originally.
Yeah...forgot about the streetracing thing.
I can't imagine ever wanting to street race with Raceway Park so close by. Fun place.

Keep in mind that the Mitsu Galant VR4 is considered a DSM as it sits on essetionally the same playform as the 1st Gen Eclipses/ Talons/ Lasers
Technically the Mitsu 3000GT & Dodge Stealth are also part of the DSM family despite being a much different car mechanically.
