You need to get that car on a dyno, and tune the Power FC (or get some other kind of engine management w/ tuning). Also, have that thing tuned on C-16...don't relay on 100 octane.

I'd try to use higher octane gas just to be safe. 1.7 bar = 24 psi. You're going to be running on the hairy edge w/ those settings. Why don't you try those settings before you actually race to make sure the car is running good?

There is more than one M5 engine... the old ones were Straight 6's. I would think that you could boost 22-23 psi safely if you have a decent octane gas there. Lower your tire pressures to 26 in the fronts, and 23 in the back if you know how to launch the car. You should beat him easily.

DUDE, DONT DROP THE CLUTCH AT 4K BECAUSE YOU WILL BOG OUT AND HE'LL CATCH AND YOU LOSE. REV THE ENGINE UP TO 5K RPMS, LET THE CLUTCH UP RIGHT AT THE CATCH POINT, AND WHEN YOU KNOW ITS TIME, FLOOR THE GAS AND LET THE CLUTCH GO. JUST MAKE SURE THE CLUTCH IS IN SLOW PULL MODE.

no thats the old E34 90-93 m5 motor...it is strong. and if it is really 360hp than its the 3.8L that is only offered over seas. the 3.6 has less hp...but if you do cam gears its strong. I believe that the evo with around 20-21psi with your mods should be able to kick his butt. especially with a good launch, so start practicing.Im a bmw guy originally and did the 3.2L euro motor which has more hp than the 3.6 old m5 motor and it really wasnt that fast. a modded evo feels way faster. you should be putting down around 320whp he should only be putting down less. but he'll have some torque too. those have no low end...just like our cars...you'll be fine

well when i do 4k drops i dont bog because i do a quick slip at the end while im going WOT... even when i launch at alil lower.. boggings never been a big issue if timing is good

but ur right u should do it at 5k but i guess i wouldnt risk my transfer case going all for one race

The m5 is a 4.9 v8 with 394hp. Not sure if that will fit in the new m3 since its a lot wider. The new prototype m5s have 500hp v10s in them. The e46 M3s came with 333hp I6s in them with 3.3L of displacement. Both ran 13.3 or 13.2 stock. It'll be close coming down to your launch. But if he supposedly has the motor swap like he says ( i doubt that he does) he would take you on the end if he can hook up off his launch. If I can take a dyno'd 435whp cobra in the 1/4 from a launch, you should be able to take him if you can launch. Go out and practice your launch first and hit your shifts. The two most important parts for us Evos in racing

if you are stock injectors you're fuel cut will come in at 1.65bar of boost. That happened to me with boost controller set at 1.7, fuel pump and exhaust. Put race gas in, turn the boost to 1.65bar, advance your timing.
One thing i do is take my filter off and run an open MAF at the track. That gave me .4. But thats something I only do during a money race or at the track. Practice your launches. I drop clutch at 6500rpm and spin my tires coming out of the hole.
Someone go ahead and knock me, but with a dyno'd (only) 286 at the wheels i'm doing something right with 1.655 60' times

good luck dude... you will have the advantage off the line but his car will own the Evo for top end so make sure you get a REALLY good lead on him right away or you won't catch him.

I took an M series roadster earlier tonight with my stock Evo but we were in the corners and it took pretty much everything my car had to do it.

you have a few mods that will help ya out just make sure you launch right that will determine if you embarrass the BMW driver or just prove his point
