if you match the revs, then you can just dump the clutch, no need to let out slow.

yeh, but if you don't want to or don't know how, you could let it out slow. This works to a limit, but it's less jerky.

best way is still to rev match.

is there any kind of negative effect to the car in anyway if you donT rev match

as in clutch in, downshift, clutch out slowly, I know the little jerk helps slow the car down but does it have any bad longterm effects.

The reason I ask is I alwasy rev match, b/c i feel like the jerkin isn't that great for the car

^^ That is a blast. There's also nothing better than making a perfect corner with a double clutche heel toe downshift...

Not rev matching is very hard on your clutch, and if you let the clutch out fast enough to jerk the car, it's bad for the entire drivetrain. There really isn't any reason to downshift without rev matching. As far as the little jerk helping to slow the car down, I don't think you want to use your clutch as a brake. Think about the wear you put on all 4 pads and rotors, do you want to put all that wear that is shared among 4 sets of pads on just your clutch? Probably not a good idea.

haha, if I'm going like 10mph stopping at a light, I'll just lightly blip the gas and put it into first (very slowly letting out the clutch) to get the sexy popping sound from the exhaust.. much <3

I usually rev match just a little when downshifting, especially on corners. It sounds awesome, plus less jerk and stress on the trans/engine.. well, at least it makes me feel better like I'm doing something to harm it less..

Is rev matching supposed to eliminate the jerking or just lessen it? SOmetimes I feel the car jerk(less of course) even though I rev match. Maybe my rpm's weren't high enough. I notice when I downshift from 5th to 4th or 4th to 3rd I need the RPM's above 2k. WHen downshifting from 3rd to 2nd I need the RPM's under 2k, if I go above that then the car just jerks forward.
