1st gear grinding

when my clutch was newer, i could be doing 30 and push the clutch in, and downshift to first, now if im going over 5 it wont go into first, it will just grind, is that because of the worn clutch?? please help

I think that's the way it should be. In most cars it's difficult to get into first if you're going over a certain speed. I know even on my Evo it is and most other manual cars I've driven. Why do you want to be in first gear at 30mph?
