Drag racing, transition from launch to 2nd

I dont want to start another "how to launch" thread. Instead, I need help with my 1st to 2nd shifting. I launch and have a little wheelspin, and as soon as they catch again, I have to shift at about 7200. However, whenever I shift that high out of 1st, I get locked out of 2nd and 3rd, sometimes 4th. It makes my 1/4 times either low 12s on a good run, or 15s on a bad one. Anyone else have this problem? Also in time I want to do the bushings, short shifter, and clutch, but first I want to see if Im the only person with this problem.......

before you stage, try running through the gears 1-2-3-4 and then back, this will often align the transmission and help the 'locking out' problem
