rev it to about 5Gs and let off slowly, the second you feel the clutch grab just a little dump it

Oh yeah, I was running a search for some videos, and after a while I must have forgot that the threads I was looking at were old, hahaha.

Launched my evo 9 today. It has a 2 step in the stock ecu set at 5k. Revved it up there, held, gassed and it bogged. Any tips?

I would like to know and not much has been said about the X launching it, or good things at least. Seems clutch is weak, but just wondering.....

rev it up to 9 grand and dump that clutch!!! lol j/k

it really just takes getting used too...I think I used to rev it up and hold it at about 5000 rpm's and slip the clutch (not dump it)

now I have 2 step, so I just use the 2 step setup through the AEM EMS at about 5800 rpms and slip the clutch

its not rocket science, just takes practice lol

It's the same thing for X gsr. 5K rpm, Slip release, got a grip, drop clutch, full throttle.... have fun!

btw, if you slip for quite a bit, you may smell burn clutch. this smell can be taken off on highway trips.

nice post guys. very informational. I was disappointed when I tried launching my evo x. now I know its because I was dumping the clutch. no wonder stock clutch lasted only 4k miles. have exedy now and thanks to this forum i'm gonna have fun at red lights on my way to work tomorrow. cause I will now slip rather than dump at 5500rpms.

btw
on the evo x theres this traction thing, u know : snow, tramack, gravel.

which is best to launch on?

upon further review, I found the answer to my traction control for launching question.
hold the ASC button for a few seconds to turn it off.

thanks again
