from reading your sig, you mention sheptran. are both your TC and tranny shep? if so yes i would totally dump that **** all the time. Im still on stock tc and tranny, running ACT HDSS clutch, with the clutch pill in, im still a bit scared.

to be honest i haven't launched the car since the tune and clutch install :X

I just read a little bit of this thread and it amazes me at the stupidity in this thread. You all can dump the clutch all you want but you better have a pocket book to cover broken t-cases.

Step 5: Floor the gas, and hold it to the floor. You will start bouncing off the 2-step at 5000rpm and build around 10psi.

Step 6: DO NOT let off the gas pedal at ALL, slip out the clutch until you feel it grab, then let go.

Step 7: DO NOT let off of the gas pedal until you shift to 2nd gear. The gas pedal should be held to the floor from the beginning until you shift to 2nd.

Step 8: Continue shifting gears accordingly.

that's how i've always done it, and it was good enough to get me and my basically stock IX MR to 12.82 @ 107.41 with only a cat back, no tune, no other power adders, a boost leak, and a possibly slipping stock clutch.

Started re-reading this thread from the top now that I'm starting to launch my Evo. Someone mentioned posting vids of how we launch to see which technique is the best. So, here is a video of my launch (boost gauge wasn't working so ignore that):

http://www.facebook.com/video/video....=1428096580701

I gave just enough throttle to get to 2-step (I have it at 5k). IIRC I was at around 40-45% throttle. I slipped the clutch until the car started lurching forward, then I quickly dropped the rest (not quite a dump, but almost). I waited until the clutch was FULLY engaged before going WOT. The road was moist and I heard the tires chirping a bit. No smelly clutch after the launch either.

Car info:

Stock clutch
~340 WHP/320 WTQ

if you stay too long on it will not effect on the launch.
This video i do stay long on the two step , waiting the co driver to say "GO" but its not happening , just after a sec or two the a green comes up, she wasnt ready to go. so you see she announce the 5 sec / rev and two step/and then we delay launch after the green light. I didnt know since i do not watch the launch light. I waiting for the "GO" sign. So anyway, because of that i did stay long on the two step and still didnt bug even on steep up hill.

the launch is after 42 sec.

Glad to hear. In my opinion ebrake launching is the best and also does the least amount of damage to the drivetrain once u perfect it.

Went to the track this Tuesday with a couple of my friends. His launch control was set at 6k building 10psi. He was dropping his clutch and actually snapped an axle. I know some people always drop their clutch and nothing happens but I would say do it with caution.

Best advice here IMHO!

well if've tried launching my evo a few times and i really suck at it mind you my evo is bone stock with 41,000 miles. My boy told me that there is nothing wrong with my clutch. Hey maybe my car its just slow. I'm yet to spin the tires.

I don't think a stock evo has enough power to spin the tires. Slip the clutch slowly and when it starts grabbing/you start moving forward, quickly release the rest. (Not quite a dump, just a quick release)
