Left foot breaking experences...

HEh so i was messin around here cause it was raining and decided to try out some left foot breaking. and i was amazed that it actually worked. i stabbed the breaks and gunned the throttle at the same time and believe it or not i got some oversteer... now i am not talking about drifter oversteer but more oversteer than understeer which i think is better. Does anyone else have any experences with left foot breaking...also how bad is it for your car...i know its bad but from what i understand while you are applying throttle the breaks dont work on the front disks...I may be wrong.

Left foot braking in performance or competition driving with front-wheel and 4WD cars is a must.

When you brake, vehicle weight transfers on to the front of the car, unloading the rears. Hence, if you also apply throttle at the same time, you loose grip on the rears and you get oversteer.

However, left-foot breaking takes a lot of time to master to be precise, practice in empty lots would be good. Please don't practice in traffic

lfb is wicked but it puts hell on your brakes on asphalt, your throwing your brakes down and at the same time, your trying to push your car forward.... you'll heat up the brakes alot faster and possibly warp them or go through the pads faster.

i have to admit it is fun to do, try it on dirt, but just tap on the brakes to start it....

LFB is a method that is used to help the car to turn. It is used to transfer weight to the front wheels so that they can take a better bite (Increase in weight on front end of car). This is also used to help the car turn if there is a push (Understeer) in the front of the car. It also allows the back of the car to "Lighten up" so that you can get the back end to rotate a little. This rotation will create oversteer if you do it to much. Practicing your method is the only way to get good at it. This doesn't mean stabbing the brakes, but just covering them a little bit.

It is a fun technique, but one that you need to practice and understand before using it in competition.

Most any performance driving at higher levels requires good left foot braking technique.

It allows a driver to better transfer weight where it is needed. ANd it allows it to be done much fastor becuase you have your feet right where they need to be when transfering weight. You also are able to accelerate sooner since your throttle is always open (or atleast most of the time) and when under load your generating boost. so when you come through a corner your engine is already pulling and as soon as you let of the brakes, their is no wait time to get your foot over to the throttle, or the engine to respond, or boost to build.

It is a critical technique for racing small displacement high rpm power making cars, especially turbo cars where boost is also a factor.

fast Z06 owners do it, becuase it's faster, but it makes a bigger difference in a small 2.0L car, especially a turbo car where out of boost power is very low.

It's for either stick or auto. If you're clutching at the same time, you'll do heal-toe instead, but if you're not shifting, then left foot braking is preferable, since with a little practice, you can have better braking control with left-foot braking than heal-toeing.
