AutoX Instructional Videos for you

Being an autocross driver wanting to learn more, I searched all over the internet to find some how-to videos but found nothing. So I gathered together some videos for those, like myself, who want to further study some techniques from a champion autocrosser.

It's titled, "Autocrossing with Dick Turner"

http://www.youtube.com/user/EvolutionAutocrosser

The videos might be a little old but most of the techniques are still relevant to today's technology. Check it out and if you like it, subscribe. Then, post some video responses of you autocrossing your Evo if you want.

You know a few of the Staff members have talked about something along those lines.

I liked that first video. we had a turn exactly like that at one of our recent events, on my first lap I took the late apex line because it just seemed to work the best. after people saw my times and watched what I was doing, everybody started trying to late apex the turn lol nice to have some validation for my instincts.

The video demonstrates late apexing as a one and only way to get around that cone the fastest. Its not always true and though slow in fast out does work in many autocross situations. However its not always benefitial to late apex especially if that cone leads to another obstical in a short distance. its not the best to analyze a course cone by cone. It needs to be taken as a combination of corners to establish compromises.

i agree, but in the scenario from the video, it seemed like the general direction was straight back, in which late-apexing proved to be the fastest. I wonder what his times would be if there was a 90 degree right hander after the finish line...

excellent video nonetheless, i believe schumi was notorious for late-apexing
