OZ peak power at what rpm?

now i'm going through the threads and read that peak power is at 5500 and that's where i should shift gear when "racing," but do i shift at 5500 at all gears? it would seem to me that some gears are longer than others and would make shift points be at different rpms. so do i always shift at 5500 in all gears?

also, wouldn't shifting at 5500 start the next gear way below the powerband? i guess these are more tech q's than of actually being of importance.

K. yes when racing you should shift at 5500 or higher.. If you thought shifting at 5500 would drop you too low in the power band of the next gear, then imagine what shifting at 4000 would do. Basically in the lancer go from redline to redline for your optimum speed.

Wanna race?

Also keep in mind there's a rev limiter on the car. If you go just a bit past redline (around 6,500 if I remember right) you'll hit it. I suggest doing it once just to see where it is, but shifting aruond 5,500-6,000 is a great way to stay in the meat. Give it a shot and compare it to shifting earlier and later. I think you'll come to the same conclusion.

EDIT:
Horsepower @ rpm (SAE net):_____120@5500

Torque (lb-ft @ rpm):_____________130@4250

i usually do shift at 6400 right before the limiter kicks me down and i'm usually at the door of a 97 eclipse rs. then i read about this 5500 rpm shift thing and was wondering if it made a difference. i really don't have the time to race my friend again so i was just asking you people if there was a difference. there was something about a drop in hp after 5500. i'm curious whether shifting after 5500 actually slows you down. also, is this peak hp is at 5500 in all gears.

6000 is the best rpm to shift at the next gear catches at 4550 right when the tork and hp crossings are just right
