Alcohol kits gen 1-5
well i have to say i'm not terribly pleased that since i bought my alky kit just a little over a month ago that they are about to release gen5. i was okay with gen2 but wtf, version 5 is almost out. yeah yeah i know with everything there is improvement but to have 5 different kits within such a small time frame is kinda disturbing. to me the changes are to make things better but to also possibly fix problems with previous versions. please tell me this isn't so al. is my gen1 kit really any worse than the new kits??? if you feel there is any problems with gen1, i rather spend the money and update what i have just so there are no probs in the long haul. i know from gen2 on you can run water through them but that to me is really not a concern since i won't run nothing but den. alky. so any other reasons why smc keeps changing these kits? at the rate they are going there will be gen 100 by the end of the year.
Gen 3 = changed nozzle size, I believe to spray less alky. (I like mine spraying more)
Gen 4 = Small software changes to controller, nothing vital
They also added a Pressure gauge near the UIC pipe to see line pressure. Not sure which Generation.
Gen 5 = ????
Personally, I have a Gen 2 kit with a Gen 4 controller and I noticed no difference between the Gen 2 and Gen 4 controller. (replaced due to faulty spray LED, thanks SMC. Awesome customer service!)
I don't think you have anything to worry about regarding your Gen 1 kit. Keep boozing the car up and enjoy the power.

I think we are almost done with the changes - the newest revision adds a one way check valve to help the on time reaction get faster.
There may be a few more tweaks along the way - I may go smaller on the jet size.
As for the Gen I kit - it was a great unit and a great value for the $ at the time. It has worked fine with no issues thus far.
If you want to upgrade you can - for free. However, the difference with the new pump will totally throw off your tuning. Your car was running strong as I would leave it alone - your call. AL

well thanks for the offer for upgrading my kit for free. that's great service. if you think gen 1 works fine, i rather not bother with it. i am happy with it but was just a little concerned you and smc keep revamping it as fast as you do. what's the purpose of the smaller nozzle?

So by when do you expect to have a one that is up to your perfection requests, mid summer? By the way, great 1/4 times, congrats.
