Hey big Al...talked to you today, and wanted your opinion on the white rabbit turbo from forced performance.
You have flashed all over the world and thought you might have some insight into this...Is the turbo worth the money for what you get? considering no EMS

From what I am reading it is a better turbo BUT not cost effective. It is VERY VERY (read very) hard to improve upon a stuck turbo, it is that good.

 

I have one and love it. It is not a gt35r but that turbo is not for me.

 

I agree - its an improvemnet over stock - but at that price it may not be the world's best bargain

Its like this - how much are you willing to pay for a first class service on a air plane? I think it comes down to personal budget and priorities.

 

BTW - the new Buschur GT35R turbo kit is about $3,000 for the whole kit - that is my recomendation

 

Thanks for the input Al...for me it's like this I have a borla header that is leaking at the gasket between the turbo and the header causing me to lose boost at high rpm w/ a light load. It goes from 22psi to 17 by redline-no good! It used to go from 22psi to 21 psi by redline. So I have to spend 450.00 in labor to replace the gasket. If I buy the white rabbit for 1550 I will spend 2k out the door and will have paid for the labor anyway. A turbo kit would run 2x that installed, but make more power. I have 3" exhaust, a bigger o2 sensor housing, buscher fmic, hks 264 cams w/ aem gears, hks super suction intake, a greddy bov, super afc, and your dynoflash. If I could make another 40-50 whp on the top I think I would be happy, for 1/2 the cash...this is my dilemma. I will have to make my mind up!

I have to have the turbo removed, I am swaping the header, which involves removing the radiator(no room to work the header off w/o posssibly damaging the radiator) then bolting the turbo back together w/ locktite so this does'nt happen again, then installing it back on the car. I will def. check into doing it myself though.

 

You don't have to remove the radiator. Stick a piece of cardboard between the manifold and radiator. I've seen manifolds swapped in an hour with 2 beer breaks.

But hey, if you're going to pay 450, you should at least grab your ankles.

As for the WR, it gets a little more power without sacrificing throttle response. If you're looking to make 500+HP, this may not be the one for you. If you want something that spools just as quickly as the stock turbo with a little more power up top, the WR is a logical choice.

but you shouldnt need that just get a new gasket and torque tighten it down evenly on all sides

 

Might be worth taking a look at the Buschur 20G.

 

Is it me or is the GT35r getting cheaper and cheaper with time passing by. I can remember when the GT35r first came out for the evo and it was so expensive

i would think that the WR is a bargain at just $895.00. people need to read more of what FORCED PERFORMANCE has to offer. it is $895.00 to upgrade your turbo that you send them. why do you need to buy a whole new turbo if it is not blown?? just send them yours and have them upgrade it to the WR. the upgrade consists of a new MR 10.5 hotside with the single large flapper valve, upgraded wastegate actuator, Ti internals and their compressor wheel. not bad for an upgrade. cheaper than the 6.5TME turbo....
