It was my impression that when you send your turbo it was everything except the 10.5 housing...so what you have is a wr turbo w/ a 9.8 houising or am I reading it wrong?

Yes and no TI internal like the TME or WR (entire turbo).

yes you are reading it wrong. when i called and asked what was performed for the upgrade, she explained as such-we take your turbo, replace the shaft, compressor wheel to the FP wheel, the exhaust wheel to the Ti wheel, dynamically balance it, and replace the exhaust housing to the 10.5 housing, and replace the wastegate actuator as well.

so yes, you do get a better turbo in essence. if you have an 05 VIII or MR then i would imagine that the $$ might be a little different cost wise. when i asked them about which housing they use-10.5 TME or the 10.5 MR housing- they stated that they didnt find any "significant" hp or response changes by using a single flapper valve or the dual flapper valve so they said they use the dual flapper.

I called over there a woman answered the phone and said oh Robert is the only one who can talk to you about that turbo...so I talked to Robert. I forgot to ask about the core exchange and upgrade though Here it is right off their website.

EVO4-8 Turbocharger rebuild blueprint and upgrade to White Rabbit Compressor specifications. This upgrade requires the customer supplied turbocharger to perform.
This upgrade can be performed to any of the EVO4 through EVO8 turbochargers regardless of turbine housing size or inconel or TiAl turbine wheel. This upgrade does not include replacing the turbine housing or turbine wheel, the customer supplied turbocharger turbine wheel and housing will be used.

All the pre release testing of the White Rabbit was performed with 10.5cm2 exhuast housings. However, with the absence of any WOT compressor surge we suspect that the 9.8cm2 housings may result in even lower spool RPM and have no observable penalty from back pressure when operated at low boost pressure such as 22psi and below. We recently preppared a WR for Switzer out of a TiAl wheeled 9.0cm2 core and we've got our eye on that one for sure!

Turnaround for this turbocharger upgrade is about 1 week after receipt of the customer supplied turbocharger.

You need to go and get your info straight. If everything that you say was true my turbo will be at FP now If you send a 9.8 housing you get that back along with no TI.

Yeah I don't think that you get the TiAl wheel with the upgrade for 8 bills, although I hope I'm wrong it would make it a much easier decision for me. Anyway you can buy the 10.5 MR compressor housing for $250 from FP. I know that for sure. I just bought a stock '03 turbo manifold and o2 housing with like less than 5000 miles cheap. My plan is to have Buschur port and coat the extra stock manifold and o2 housing and up grade turbo with the 10.5 Mr hotside. All in thats mani, o2 and turbo upgrade for like $750. I would love to have the lighter upgraded compressor wheel though. If I could do a core exchange for a true WR or 20G with the TI wheel for about $750-$850 I would be all over it.

When someone comes out with a ball bearing section for the stock/10.5 housing w/ the lightened wheel, I will be all over it. For the money though it is starting to look like the ATP 3071 for me...stock manifold can be used (or borla header in my case), stock appearence and I just have to give up about 300-500 on the spool up. (I checked my dyno sheets and compared) But when it hits...look out I will be approaching 400 whp on 93-94 octane.
