My thoughts exactly. The tapering and smaller diameter doesn't affect performance at all. If anything, it's what gives the muffler its unique sound since it creates higher back pressure. Coupled with it being titanium, that's what makes this muffler loud as butt.

There are definate gains from 3" versus 2.5", I believe Buschur proved this a long time ago, no surprise there. But remember, now we starting to see that the main limiting factor in the exhaust could be the o2 housing itself, justifying everybody now buying up these ebay housings and such. To go true 3" all the way, start at the o2 housing. Yes, old news, its been discussed many times before, but I guess I really don't understand the point of this thread, without dyno numbers comparing the "systems", besides some free marketing. I pieced my exhaust together, as many others, and really think fitment and tone are more important in most cases. Soon we will start seeing more specials and requests for the o2 housing included in some of these $6-800 "Turbobacks." Carry on!

Wow, A beer can test. Now that is truly funny.

BTW, Do the Greddy, Buschar, and any others that are true 3 inch pass the standard for acceptable sound levels?

Engineers now what they are doing......

OH, and I would becareful what you say about the over seas bean counters. You drive a car that was build by a bunch of them.

Just tested my Blitz Nur-Spec Racing Cat Back Exhaust and it at least passed.

I had plenty extra room in there with the can to swirly it around.

If you were an engineer you would be putting a map sensor in the front of your downpipe and measuring backpressure in a real world test, either on the road or the dyno. The inside diameter of the muffler itself isn't the end all, the style of perforations and number/degree of bends will have an effect also.

So you're telling me that the hks cf titanium exhaust isn't even 2.5 inces? I hope that's not true, because I just got that exhaust. I paid peanuts for it, but regardless, I want it to be functional.

sadly the muffler hole is smaller than the stock one - although the pipe is larger - BUT - it necks down at the cat

You must have tested the old AVO's. I have the new one and it is 3" all the way through, actually the muffler section is 2 3/4. Still large. Besides the muffler is straight through anyway.

On a side note, notice the exhausts that have true 3" mufflers are also the loudest. I like my exhausts subtle.

I know this my be off topic but do any of you know if the Helix 02 will fit the A'pexi GT dp. I am asking because i think Helix is 3" i think my dp is 2.5 i thought it was 3" but there seems to be 2 A'pexi GT dp according to some of the sites i have been to claiming that one is 3" and the other is 2.5" i got my A'pexi dp from logic performance.
