Sounds like they have made improvements. I will be putting this on my car regardless though. I will just pay attention to the psi on a regular basis.

Aside from trying to pay attention to psi on a regular basis, what failsafes will you incorporate in your system? Just want to make sure you do have all your bases covered.

I don't know yet. I'm open to any and all opinions and advice though.... and plan to have any of said failsafes incorporated prior to getting the tune.

That being said, any recommendations?

I recommend staying away from Alky injection, that is if you like your motor and all?
There's a reason why I now have a built 2.4.

your incident happened back then when these system just came out and relatively few incidents. as time goes by, there are more and more failure incidents, pumps, controllers.....

there are really good failsafes available that monitors flow, afr, boost, egt in the market now.

Bill,

You being a friend of mine I wouldn't hide any facts from you specially when you are interested on buying my spare SMC kit. The low level light on the SMC kit is consider a fail safe sort of speak. Mnay kits in the market are so simple that they don't even come with the low level light indicator nor they are progressive..

There are a few ways to fitt a fail safe and you can always change the failsafe to whichever type you want.

Steve from IAperformance has an Aquamist module that detects drop on pressure, additionally there are also gauges that will tell you the flow plus the gauge on the SMC line itself.

I am not saying it can fail, anything could fail, you must consider the amount of methanol/alcohol you are injecting and the tuning before you can say that your engine is in danger of blowing.

Call me(you have my number) or pm me and I can show you the system in detail. By the way, have you seen AZ EVO IX MR(Mike's car), he ran 11.7@114 last night on stock turbo.

Carlos

some of the best failsafes for alky are a good tune and good peripheral vision.... basically i mounted my smc control kit in the change pocket because of the police out here... i've been through one pump failure… it went out prior to me trying to boost... i felt the car not pulling like normal and the only indication the pump was out was no orange light when it should be spraying so if your control box is in the corner of your vision you have to look for it... the better you know the way your car feels the easier time you'll have knowing when something goes wrong... alky or no alky… I can say that with the 91 octane **** they call gas here in cali I haven’t, even for a second, ever regretted installing alky injection.
