Can someone critique my timing map.
Can someone critique my timing map.
The following is my E85 timing map. I've researched and followed some of the tips that a few in here have suggested. Credit to mrfred/Jim in Tucson...
I'm currently running 24-28psi on a 35r, built bottom end, dual 255s and 1000cc injectors scaled for 690cc. AFR are around hi 11's.

I'm seeing about 280-290 load on the fuel side. Knock sum under WOT is pretty much zero but I do get some inconsistent readings of >5 counts when it does show up but I also have phantom knock issues. Under normal cruising, I still get anywhere from 0-6 counts but mostly around 2 counts. I've tried taking out and adding fuel/timing and checked the spark plugs and no visible/audible detonation. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

rEVoLed- I don't think your timing is the issue... It's very conservative for E85. I've had E85 cars that will knock if leaner than 11.5 AFR's. I would lower your scaler in increments of 5% or add more fuel to your fuel table but leave timing alone. Keep throwing more fuel at it until it consistently has very minimal knock run after run.
Try that and let us know.

yet are you tuning on the street or dyno? alot of people who street tune are getting to aggresive and tuning for single degrees of knock. Dont worry about it if its under 5.. youll be chasing ghosts trying to tune for that.
Its on the street. I left this timing alone as is and messed with my fuel. What i actually noticed is that as I run richer in the 11's I get knock sum counts at part throttle and WOT while when I leaned it to the low/mid 12's it actually was very very quiet. No counts under WOT and part throttle was only a max of 3.
I am running 1.7 bars now and it feels great but is my timing too conservative even for the boost level? Will it yield more power if I was to add some more timing?

I see knock noise cleanup the leaner you go with E85, little noisey at 11.4-5, starts to clear up around 11.6-11.7 and is almost impossible to get to knock at 11.8-12.1
Tuning for max power on E85 on the street is going to be a bit hard and depends on how eager you are to throw a rod through the block.
I've found that E85 is a fuel you can get to MBT and beyond with so it has to be treated with respect. You cannot tune it the old school road tuning method of going more and more aggressive until you see knock, that could put a rod through the block before you even see logged knock counts.
DLL dyno might be able to help you if you can make it constant. If you stop seeing torque curve gains then you have gone beyond MBT and you need to back off.
From looking at your timing in ProTuner, if you are holding 280 out then I think you have some more room for timing 6 to 7k, but of course every car is different.

Looks fine to me, like razorlab said lean it out a tish so you're consistantly at ~11.9afr and then go with a safe timing map, this looks dandy. If you can get on a dyno, you'll be able to tweak it more but for road tuning I think you're about as far as you can go.
