The point was that headstuds are a very good idea with high boost pressures.

This has nothing to do with pistons, nor are they needed.

I thought the headstud thing was due to poor tunes causing knock. I'm not running headstuds and I refuse to do it the "flat rate" way if I did do them. Running between 26 and 30 psi (depends on street map or autox map) on E and 24 since I got the car on pump. Just over 40k on the clock.

We have seen hundreds both with and without. We have seen 34psi on stock bolts on stock turbo, and we have seen some lift the head.

It is our professional recommendation to do them on an E85 car if you plan to extract the maximum performance as you can run the turbo as hard as it will go without the octane limitations of pump fuel.

Point taken. No harm in extra safety measures. Anyway you guys could help me out with my other issue (ecuflash)? I bought my m2's and injectors from you

Bumping this old thread for some more input from those who have been running E85 for a while now.

I am getting tuned on E85 this summer. I have a IX with TBE, intake, walbro, 3 port, 4 bar MAP, 1200cc injectors and a ZT-2 wideband. I am wanting to run 28-30 psi on ECU based boost control tune.

#1. How many have been running this type of boost for a considerable amount of time with good success on the stock head studs? I know there is much controversy surrounding this upgrade but bottom line is I don't want to spend the time and money now if most are doing ok with the stockers.

#2. Will the stock WGA need to be upgrade to a higher rated one? If not a need would there be much benefit to do so?

#3. Diverter valve. I have the stock IX valve. Do I need to upgrade or modify?

Thanks for your input.

27-32 and sometimes 35 psi almost 20k miles no issues,If head lifts then I'll do cams, studs etc... (new motor if I have to )

I guess it depends... You can adjust the actuator rod if it doesn;t hold but in my case I'm now on the FP 25 psi actuator. Fore would not hold for me

Stock valve started leaking boost at 26 psi for me so I crushed it and it holds boost.

Thanks for your input.
Good Luck

Thanks man! I went and ordered a synapse BOV. Gonna take my chances with the head studs. If it lifts the head I guess it will be time for head work and cams. The waste gate thing is up in the air. I think I will try the stocker and see what kind of results I get. If I need to replace it then hopefully the shop I get tuned at will have one that we can throw on. Anyone else with input?
