E98 is typically straight and they act like its not. That or it has rubbing alcohol or 87 octane but having gotten splashed in the face by it on accident I cant say I tasted any gasoline. We have found it uses more like 40% more than gas so 10% more than e85. 5% meth isnt really enough to worry about, I wouldnt think itd be needed to purge the system. Over the long run it might do something we dont want but itd take awhile.

A small suggestion here: a fuel heater can work wonders for higher ethanol percentages. Think a battery blanket (those from Canada or the northern states will know what I'm talking about), but for your fuel filter or rail, and you have the right idea.

Delphi did some interesting work in this area; they have a paper discussing heated injectors for cold starts on Ethanol, using Brazil (mecca for high ethanol content) as a test case. Pretty neat stuff. (See also, if you have an IEEE membership, this paper discussing hydrogen-enrichment of ethanol for improved low-temperature operation; note the summary, which points out that pure ethanol cannot generate a potent enough vapor/air mixture below 11C to ignite.)

Tuning only goes so far; at a certain point, the laws of physics kick in, and you have to start accommodating with warmer plugs, raising the fuel and/or combustion chamber temperature, etc.

Sorry for my noobness. Do you need any modifications to run ethanol on an stock evo or regular car? Does Ethanol fuels give you more hp?

Almost all of the Alternative fuel section is dedicated to E-85, its uses and characteristics.

E85 does not mix with leaded fuel.
Would love to know some of those shops that run E85 belended with the above fuels.

Buying E95-98 can be just as inconsistent as at gas stations. You got to always check content if it's such a big concern to you.
