What fuel injetors/fuel rail is everyone using for E85?

With the right setup fuel pump wise, i've heard the stock rail can handle around the 700hp mark. This info came from a pretty reliable source, so i trust it's accurate. You're right about the aluminum rails, and anodizing. If the rail isnt anodized correctly, it will see alot of wear from the ethanol. I'm over 400whp on E85 with the stock rail, and have had no issues.

I've heard a few cases of PTE injectors failing with E85, i am using PTE 1000cc inj's and plan on switching to RC1200's in the very near future.

My guess is that's on pump gas. Multiplying by 0.7 for E85 gives just a bit under 500 whp which is right about where Bryan@GST figures the stock rail begins to cause issues.

The tricky thing about the limitation of the stock fuel rail and E85 is that because E85 doesn't knock when lean, and it can run up to 13:1 AFR without signficant breakup, there is no immediate sign the plenum of the stock fuel rail can no longer provide an even pressure distribution to all the injectors.

We will be offering a few Hz injectors soon for the Evo 8/9 that are E85 compatible. Sizes ranging from 800cc/1000cc/1300cc/1600cc.

We have had a set of 1500cc in a 4G63 DSM with 1 of our DW300 fuel pumps, and that car was able to put down 620awhp on E85 @ 58psi base fuel pressure and 30psi boost. The car was tuned on a DynoJet.

As for the rail that was used, I'd have to ask as I do not know off the top of my head.

The FIC1100s are saturated / High Impedance Ball & Seat Injector right? I'm wondering if I should wait another couple of weeks before buying injectors to get more info on these. Also, what's your take on the DW 300 fuel pump compared to the Walbro fuel pump you are using?

They are indeed a high impedance saturated, ball and seat injector. The FIC1100s have been out for almost two years. Been quite happy with mine. Others can chime in.

MAPs testing of the DW300 shows it supporting 560 whp on E85. A Walbro is only good for about 500 whp. Only question remains is the long term durability of the pump.

If you're thinking of using the FIC1100s with the DW300 for E85, they ought to max out at about the same time. I'm currently at 91% IDC at 470 whp, and with the way IDC is reported in EvoScan, its possible to go to 110% IDC.

What turbo are you running now, mrfred? I know you were in the midst of testing or thinking about testing a few, from the BBK Full to the HKS. I don't remember ever seeing any reviews though?

BBK Full. Awesome turbo. Wider powerband than the stock turbo. Perfect match for the strength of the stock block. With that said, the crystal ball is predicting drop-in pistons and rods followed a Magnus V5 and either an HTA Green or a Black. muahaha.
