E85 or meth?

So I've been doing alot of reading lately on e85 and water meth. And can't decide witch route to chose so decided to post a thread to get different opinions from both users. Thinkin about e85 mostly cause it just seems safer. But only think makin me think about meth is e85 is 2.86 a gallon where I live and the only gas station that caries it is ten miles from my home my Evo is not my dd so wouldn't be horrible but been reading average mpg is ten. So that's a downer. Lookin at meth seems to have about same gains but if the system ever fails it can be very bad news from what I hear still a novice at these alternate fuels but any info on either or opinions from users would be sweet. Im gonna continue browsing the forums for more info!

E85 does require a higher commitment.

However, knowing that I'm spending much more on fuel, but sending far less of each fuel dollar to foreign oil producing countries who refer to the US as the great Satan, is worth it in my opinion.

If its not a daily driver then definitely E85.

1. E85 will outperform race gases 116oct+ (Rated 104oct but all alcohol fuels are rated low - will outperform C16 & Q16)

2. E85 will lower your exhaust gas temp and intake temps 20-30f or more easily

It does require 30% more fuel supply though, so you will most likely need to upgrade your fuel system to accommodate for it.

Meth will lower your intake temp by evaporating in the charge pipe, dissipating the heat. I don't understand how you're claiming E85 will lower the intake temperature.

research before questioning someone.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E85#Com...gular_gasoline

taken from the e85 forum:

E85 combusts at a lower temp, and also draws more heat from the intake manifolds due to its higher L H o Vaporization. These effects cause most engines to run at 10-15degF lower temperature (at coolant) when using E85

-----

also yes, I know methanol injection will also cool the intake. So when comparing meth injection to e85 of course its not 30-40F.

I wish E85 was more readily available at the pumps. there wouldnt even be a debate on what to choose if that was the case

meth injection is effective as well dont get me wrong. i was tuning a guy with really poor fuel. we couldnt even run 1* past 5k rpm and so i had him dump a gallon of vp import in and the knock completely dissapeared. we believe the fuel was 87octane.

had him burn off the excess in the tank and refill with the crap fuel again and turn his 900cc of vp methanol injection setup on and ended up with 17* where before the car wouldnt even run 1*.. so yes meth injection is highly effective.. but when comparing to e85 its not even in the same league.

E85 is rocket fuel from hell.

YES SIR ROCKET FUEL FROM HELL. the only reason to run meth would be in the above situation or its not available and having tuning issues other then that avoid it. E85 does require a fuel system upgrade as mentioned but i have seen cars make upwards of 50-100whp more on just only adding e85 its crazy

Definitely should take advantage of E85 if you have it near your area or stock up on 10 gallon jugs!
