a couple Noob e85 questions
so im planning to do a tune in the next 2-3 weeks. My car is a 2005 MR
my car just has the basic bolt one (intake, TBE, LICP, MBC) and i might pick up a intercooler before the tune
first question is what size injectors do i go with for bolt ons + E85?
next question is what is the highest safe PSI i can tune it at?
and last, i know its good to run a couple tanks of E85 through your car before u get the tune so that there is no 91 left in the tank for the tune, my question is do i need the aftermarket injectors on the car before i do that?
thanks for any help you guys can give me

You should pickup a walbro 255 for sure, as for injectors, getting 880 or 1000cc's wouldnt hurt. Do you know what your injector duty cycle is now at wot?
You can drain out your tanks of your 91 oct using the plugs on the bottom of the gas tank, there is one on each side. Youll need a basemap for E85 since the car will not run right with E85 in there with a 91oct tune

2 5 gallon gas cans filled with e85, plan your trip so your gas light is on when you get to the tuner, he will have to swap the injectors and set everything up.
Who told you that you have to run a few tanks, run it close to empty, its not like we are mixing gas with diesel.
Im interested in the responses to your other questions, OP. I have an 05 MR as well, and am wondering about the capabilities of the 8.5 turbo. I am thinking it can handle 28-29psi on e85.
although I will be purchasing kelford 272 cams, I have the same mods as you with an intercooler. I will be doing the tune myself, right after the injector upgrade.
I am probably going to go with RC 1000's. Another member on here just made a thread that reviewed 3 years on e85 with his setup, and they were squeaky effing clean. Someone replied in his thread saying their FIC's clogged after a few thousand miles.

1000cc (you have a fuel pump?)

And I have been told if you dont run a few tanks of e85 through before the tune that you will get Lower HP numbers due to the pump gas that is left in the system.

Either drain the tank as one other poster said, or simply hook up a hose to the low pressure fuel return line and let the car idle. This is an easier way to drain all of the gasoline out without having to crawl under the car. There is no need to run a couple of tanks of e85 through.

I was under the impression that the gunk was from the setements of pump gas that the e85 has cleaned out of the fuel system.

1. Get FIC 1100cc High z Injectors, buy good injectors the first time.
2. I am running 32psi on a stock block, for daiy I have the boost set at about 28psi. At 28psi you should be well over 400whp/wtq on a Dyno Jet. 28psi is about max on stock FMIC.
3. The Fuel return line is the best way to drain out the fuel. When ever I do it that way I always try to top off the car with e85, so the .5 gallon that is still in the car get washed away by all the e85.
You should talk with your tuner and tune to what they recommend. The farther you push stuff the less reliable it becomes.
If you are tuning your own car and are good at what you do, 32psi FTW. If you are going to pay someone to tune your car then a max of 28psi is what I would do.

first off, get the injectors already and install it and get it dialed in on 91/93 for a few days. that way your alternate map is good to go. before switching to e85 i personally used some fuel system cleaner to make sure my system was clean before switching. if you are self tuning make sure you watch out for MBT.
