US ethanol output dips to lowest level in 2011

So is production down because retail sales are down? Or are retail sales down because production is down?

Jim, what side of town you on? I havent noticed any stations stopping on the NW side of Tucson yet... However, the price is just barely cheaper than 87 octane, where before it was a much larger spread.

My summer, but now winder project is to make my own ethanol. I would not be supprised to see more people going that route. The permits are free, and making the ethanol just takes time.

I need about 40 galons a month. I think that with a decent still I should be able to bang that out one weekend a month.

I started putting together all the eletronics for the controllers and monitoring software. I finally have the still speced out. Now I need to work on getting a boiler.

Just remember if everyone can make it at home you are winning . **** paying the man.

It is about a $.10-.15 difference here at $3.36 a gallon but just 10 more miles down the road it is under $3 in SC. Go about 1.5hr further down into SC and it is at $2.70

I'm on the NW side of town as well. I buy E85 at Giant (Valero) at La Cholla and Ruthrauff; formerly Catalina Mart. It was the manager there who first put me onto the wholesale price 'conflict'. They quit selling E for a few days, but apparently the corporate office changed their mind.

When they are out of E, I drive up to the Dove Mountain Chevron.

I used to buy E at a small private station on 1st Ave at Glenn, but it closed over a year ago.

I keep hearing rumors that local Shell stations will start carrying E85; but it hasn't happened yet.

Never heard of Horizon, my girlfriend lives in the Greenville area and all the e85 stations are Spinx and have not tested any of them. With the stations I have bought from here in NC have all been fairly new stations such as the one I frequent. They have only been carrying e85 for the past 3-4 months

Ah I see, I stick to the dove mountain E-85 station since its pretty close to me. Theres also a e85 pump at that small gas station at Thornydale & Magee (never used it though).

Thanks for the tip. However, it is not listed on any of the E85 locator maps sites. I'll check it out.

I remember vaguely reading some legislation about E85. As for the effects, I still have two E85 pumps in Sierra Vista each around the $3.15 mark. I am fortunate as Sierra Vista is not too big considering my brothers up in Tucson.
