Consider yourself lucky. Mine is only sold by one retailer and its at a Pacific Pride commercial fuel stop. I had to get a credit card with the retailer just to be able to buy it and the cost is currently $3.80 a gallon. Keep in mind regular unleaded is $3.49 per gallon.

oh wow sounds like that gas station is gouging you. I've never heard of E85 being more expensive the premium.

I'm in the ethanol industry and this thread makes me due to all the misinformation people are throwing around like it's fact.

What you guys are talking about is actually what's called the VEETEC blenders credit of 45-cents for every gallon of denatured ethanol they blend into gasoline. This does not go to the ethanol companies, it does not go to the farmers, it goes to the blenders (oil companies in most cases).

To address the OP and his thread title, there is no 38-cent tax being imposed on ethanol, you have either been misinformed, or like most the internet, don't fully understand the information you're attempting to regurgitate.

The title was meant to attract attention not to fully educate everybody here. Not my job! Regardless of where the money goes or doesn't go I don't want the price to go up or the availability to go down. If people want to know the entire story top to bottom they can do more in-depth research for themselves or I guess they could PM you before deciding to send the letters. Either way I've done my part to raise awareness.

If you're going to post, at least post truthful and factual information. Is it your job? As a contributing member of society, yes it is.

Your money will be going towards paying for the product you use, simple as that. Nobody is imposing a tax on you, they're just going to be charging a more fair market value since the government won't be covering that portion any longer.

Should have added a "b.i.t.c.h" at the end of this statement. Awesome...

Never enough tax. Can't fight it, they don't raise this tax and they'll be taxing something else. Can't win
