Tuning help for E85 FP Black 2.3 stroker
Ok. Pipes coming off at just 27psi is not ok though. Car needs attention to detail and setup properly with proper tbolt or clamp / couplers whichever it may be to resolve the pipe blowing off issue.
Sounds good. We will see if its just a mix up with a tune file or if there is really another problem.
Steven is telling me that you gave him several tunes and they were all too lean so he just ended up not putting the last one bc he didnt want to ruin drivability....

Fuel pressure working properly has nothing to do with a 2nd fuel pump activating or not. It will go 1:1 regardless assuming there is at least one working pump in the system.
That doesn't assure me the 2nd pump is turning on. The only thing that will assure me the 2nd pump is turning on, is pressure directed to the pressure switch and listening to it trigger the fuel pump on. Preferably a boost leak test to assure nothing else is clogged in the vac line going to the pressure switch itself etc.

Regardless, it seems you guys have figured out that the car has issues that need to be addressed before the fuel system is scrutinized too much.
And as Tom said, speed density runs fine on the stock ECU as long as the tuner knows how to do it.

Well, with amount fuel this engine is using, I don't think a single walbro 255 would maintain pressure..

It has a lot of issues for sure. Hopefully its something I can diagnose easily in person.
be swayed by others.

Sounds like a recipe for disaster. You've got an offer from Tom for help (arguably the best in the business); leave it with him or your next thread will be 'EOI - windowed 4G63'

Yeah, I didn't want to mention names of any other tuners to avoid conflict!
I know there are a few issues with the car, but nothing major at this point. Personally I don't work on it at all. I am only trying to determine what it actually needs.
I have looked into replacing the piping, and possibly the intercooler; but I don't think it needs all of the intercooler piping replaced, i think its one dented pipe. Another tuner mentioned piping and blow off valve and a small battery kit.
I didn't want to replace the battery because I just bought a brand new full size battery for the car (so I didn't want to go that route).
I did look for piping on line but, that would require a full piping kit which may not bolt up to my intercooler / and need a new blow off valve. So I figured to wait and boost leak test it before jumping the gun and spending money it doesn't absolutely need put into it.
And I do appreciate Tom's help; along with any one else's help with this issue.

FWIW as the intercooler piping ages the rubber couplings break-down and leak. Good preventative maintenance to replace with new or aftermarket kit.
Can understand not wanting to spend money but when you're in the game (modifying cars) most of the time you have to

Initially; I wasn't in the game of modifying the car. I bought it already built, as a 2.3 stroker. I thought it would be somewhat reliable since the turbo wasn't too big and it wasn't making crazy power. I really didn't want to get into this type of game with the motor.
Then a retainer in the motor broke and the turbo went bad; most likely because of the GSC R2 cams running without the spring upgrade (metal shavings in the motor).....
I was daily driving the car last summer before all of this happened. Since the car was already built running 10.5 pistons we figured it would be safer to run E85 than pump gas on the car and also the fp black turbo was similar in price as the stock evo 9 turbo.
I used to run the evo 9 turbo at 20 psi and the car seemed to run fine; although I didn't really get into it very often.
So then it turns out that the FP black isn't really a stockish replacement turbo and I had to upgrade a lot more than I thought. Turbo trix made it seem like it would just bolt on and go, as long as I put bigger injectors on the car.
So anyways; I only got into this because the motor failed and I didn't want to buy a used evo9 turbo..... And I thought the e85 was safer on the motor than pump gas.

Thanks guys!
Pleasure meeting your Dad Rich. He dropped the car off last night. I will get some pictures of the car when I go back to the shop later today and we will verify the 2nd pump turns on with the pressure switch, and perform a boost leak test on it. I'll inspect all the fuel line / pumps / etc as well once we put it on the lift.
I'll put some pictures up here of everything before / after.
Somethings really wrong, because the car surges and hangs RPM on/off and does a lot of weird stuff it shouldn't do. I wasn't told it did any of this, which is surprising, because most customers would of made a big deal about that stuff haha.
We will get it all straightened out give it somewhat conservative tune, since you don't seem to want to really make a ton of WHP anyways.
