Injector upgrade for E85

Hello all,

Im looking to switch over to full E85 for my IX, currently have a walbro 255 and stock injectors, and im looking to upgrade to atleast 1000cc injectors. My question is what experiences have you guys had with different brands? ID, FIC, RC so on. Is it worth the higher price for the "better" injectors? Only reason being asked is Ive heard that injectors do not matter as much if they are only 1000cc or a little higher and High Z, I am just trying to confirm or rule out the option of saving some money on Injectors. Let me know what you have/how long/ and any pros cons of them!

Any help is greatly appreciated

I would recommend fic 1450. That way you will have room to grow. They are low impedance so plug and tune. The wally 255 has said to support 450 hp.

You dont wana cheap out on injectors cause if 1 decides to fail under a pull you can easily melt down that cylinder.

I have been leaning towards FIC if anything, so far nothing but good things that I have heard about them. Also Weird you say Low Z, My tuner asked that when I purchase injectors to only get High Z

I believe high z idles better and is easier to tune but your gonna need to wire in a resistor pack. The 1450 blue max i have idle great. I have installed them on a few of my buddies cars all on e85 and they work well. I have read maybe 1 case of a fic failure but i have read more failure stories from rc.

That makes sense the tuner briefly mentioned to me that it would be easier to tune thats why he said High Z, but Ill definitely check out what you recomended, and as for the resistor pack that much I was already preparing to do

I only have low z 1450 because i purchased them from family and since they work well for me ive been rec to the people around me.

Go high z fic and call it a day. Im sorry. Low impedance is plug and play becausr the evo has a resistor pack. If you go high z you remove the box. My bad.

Been on the same tune for 5 years plus running 27psi. I forget what the IDC was, but it was well below max (may have been 85% IDC) (again, stock motor, no cams, stock turbo)

If I ever build an engine, certainly will opt for the largest, workable injector I can get

Thats very interesting, I aswell have a stock motor and turbo, plus HKS 272 cams, Car maxed out on a low reading mustang dyno at 300 AWHP and a IDC was at about 96%, probably going to go higher than 1000cc just to give some room

FIC 1450s and a Walbro 255.

I'm not happy with pump gas idle, but e85 is nice. They have been in the car for 2-3 years. I run pump gas when around town and 85 on track days. I probably drive the car a total of MAYBE 3k miles/year, though.

I made 460whp at 80ish% IDC. We had to stop because I ran out of fuel pump.

FIC 1100 Hi-Z's will you give you room to grow to about 450-480whp depending on your other fuel system upgrades, and they'll idle great on pump gas with stock cams.

This. I ran out of pump around 480 hp on virtual dyno. So i installed a wally 450,siphon mod,-6 fuel feed and a stm rewire kit with spoolin up hobb switch now its 520 vd 80% idc

Currently have FIC 1120's low Z, Double Pumper 2 modded Wally 255's in the car tuned on Flex Fuel, Idle is perfect with any blend from 93oct(~E-13)-E85

Not going to push it any further until the bottom end is done, I'll upgrade them at that time
